Vice City is the biggest city in Leonida and the setting for most of what Rockstar has shown: beach hotels, strip clubs, a cruise port, downtown towers and the police who patrol all of it. You rob, party, date and get chased here. Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest and the Real Dimez work out of the city, and Raul Bautista’s bank job in the Extended Look runs through its streets.
What you can do in Vice City
- Nightlife. Boobie Ike’s Jack of Hearts strip club and the Effluvia rooftop bar Official, plus NINE1NINE, whose name flew over the beach on a Trailer 1 banner; outlets identify Trailer 2’s dance floor as the club. Reported
- Beach and sport. Rockstar’s own screenshots show a crowded Vice City beach by a lifeguard stand and a basketball court, and the Extended Look shows an arcade with working cabinets. Official
- Dates. Previews say a zoo trip can be one of Jason and Lucia’s dates. Its name and location are not announced; see the zoo. Reported
- Shops and mods. Stock 305 and Electric Fang Tattoo in Stockyard and the Rideout Customs mod shop open only with the Ultimate Edition. The pre-order Shore Court Garage sits near Ocean Beach, and Ultimate owners can raid the PTT Youngin$ Compound in Southside. Official
- Fishing. Rockstar’s copy for the Ultimate Edition Squalo boat calls it “perfect for casting in Gambit Bay.” See fishing in GTA 6. Official
- Heat. Previews describe CCTV cameras and police who track your face, clothes and car, which should make the city the hardest place to shake a wanted level. Reported
Where it is and how to get there
Official footage and community maps put Vice City on Leonida’s southeast coast, as Miami is on Florida’s. Downtown and the port are on the mainland; the beach districts (Ocean Beach, Washington Beach and Shore Drive) are on a barrier island across the bay. A cruiser lettered VICEBEACH POLICE in one of Rockstar’s screenshots suggests the island city has its own name and police force (our reading), and community maps call the whole island Vice Beach. The Admiral Causeway and the Rialto Causeway, which hops across the Rialto Islands, link the two, and both are crossed in the Extended Look.
Community mapping has Interstate 404 running west across the state toward Port Gellhorn and a Keys Causeway running south through Hamlet to the Leonida Keys. The Grassrivers wetlands press against the city’s western edge: one of Rockstar’s Grassrivers screenshots has the Vice City skyline on the horizon. Inside the city, the Metro, city buses and the Ryde Me ride-hailing app do the job of fast travel.
Rockstar’s description
Rockstar opens with the line “We’re a long way from the ’80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America,” and sells the city as the glamour, hustle and greed of America in one place. Its blurb names four spots: the pastel art deco hotels and white sand of Ocean Beach, the busy panaderías of Little Cuba, the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, and VC Port, “the cruise ship capital of the world.”
Edition copy from June 2026 named more: Shore Drive, Washington Beach, Stockyard, Southside (turf of the PTT Youngin$ gang), Gambit Bay and the Vercetti Estate, which the Ultimate Edition names as the source of the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers. Whether you can visit the estate is not known.
What we have seen
Trailer 1’s Vice City scenes showed the skyline and art deco beachfront from the air, a causeway packed with traffic, beach clubs and pool parties, a car meet under a highway in a mural district, and a Vice-Dale police cruiser. Trailer 2 added the Jack of Hearts, a club dance floor that outlets identify as NINE1NINE, the Ocean View Hotel and a bank job.
The Extended Look (August 27, 2026) spent much of its running time here:
- A package pickup for Boobie at the Venture Apartments, broken up by a raid led by the task-force cop Mendez.
- A rooftop meeting with Brian and Lori Heder at Effluvia.
- Raul Bautista’s bank job: Lucia drives in over the Admiral Causeway, and the getaway leaves over the Rialto Causeway and ends in a Downtown Vice City alley. Lucia names Bayside aloud earlier in the video.
- Andrés de León’s private-jet arrival at Vice City International Airport and the grand opening of Megamundo HQ, which ends in an assault on the tower.
- An elevator playing Phil Collins, a convenience store robbery, and a waterfront condo that GameSpot matched to Dexter Morgan’s building in the TV show Dexter.
Official names and fan names
Official means Rockstar used the name in its own text or it is readable on screen in official footage. The Miami match in each row is fan identification.

Fans have matched the Cortez Hotel to the Colony Hotel and NINE1NINE to E11EVEN. The biggest real-world echo came from Miami itself: on September 22, 2026 a “Welcome to Vice City” sign was lifted onto the roof of the real Kaseya Center, the Sahara Arena’s model (reported by Local10; Rockstar has not commented). The Kaseya Center sign story has the details, and real-life locations lists every match.
Story ties
Boobie Ike’s official bio calls him a local Vice City legend with real estate, a strip club and a recording studio, and his label, Only Raw Records, brings in Dre’Quan Priest and the Real Dimez. Lucia’s bio says fighting for her family put her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Rob Nelson told Famitsu the story starts in the Leonida Keys (reported), so expect the city to open up over the early chapters rather than on minute one.
What is rumored
Leaked material from 2022 and August 2026 added names Rockstar has never used, including Dalton Island, Gloriana Key, Tequesta Retreat, Belville, Ekanfinaka and a Leaf Links golf island. Fan maps also add the Malibu Club and Starfish Island because those names existed in 2002; neither has appeared in official material. All of it is rumor. Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 set in Vice City?
Yes. Vice City is the main city of GTA 6, and Rockstar's own tagline for the game is "Vice City, USA." It sits inside the state of Leonida, which also includes the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
Is Vice City in GTA 6 based on Miami?
Yes, though Rockstar never says the word Miami. Vice-Dale County plays on Miami-Dade, Little Cuba on Little Havana and Shore Drive on Ocean Drive. Miami leaned in too: a "Welcome to Vice City" sign went up on the real Kaseya Center on September 22, 2026.
How big is Vice City in GTA 6?
Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, told the creator TGG that Vice City alone is about twice the size of Los Santos in GTA 5. Rockstar has not published a square-mile figure. See the map size page for every estimate.
What neighborhoods are in GTA 6's Vice City?
Rockstar has named Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Washington Beach, Stockyard, Southside and Bayside, plus the Rialto Islands, read off an Extended Look road sign by community wikis, and a Vice Beach Police cruiser appears in an official screenshot. Crosstown, Hamlet and Rockridge are community names, and some come from leaks.
Is there a zoo in GTA 6?
Previews say so. Hands-off previewers, as reported by Vice and GTABase, describe a zoo that Jason and Lucia can visit as a date. No Extended Look recap we checked shows a zoo scene, Rockstar has not named it or said where it is, and how much of it you can explore is unknown.
What changed on this page
- Stopped calling Mendez a dirty cop as fact and stopped routing Raul's getaway over the Admiral Causeway, which the community synopsis has Lucia take on the way in.
- Rebuilt the page around what you can do and how to get there, split official names from fan names, marked Shore Drive, Stockyard, Washington Beach, Southside and the Vercetti Estate as official, and added the real Kaseya Center sign.
