What we expect you to do on launch day, pieced together from the footage and previews:
- Take out the phone. The button has not been shown. Our phone guide covers what is known about it.
- Open Ryde Me and call a car. KeenGamer describes it as a ride-hailing service that lets Jason or Lucia travel without driving themselves.
- Set the destination. Rob Nelson told Famitsu you can hold a button to set a destination without opening the map at all. How Ryde Me takes that destination has not been shown.
- Ride. Whether you can skip to the drop-off, and what that costs, has not been revealed.
Prefer your own car? Scooter Bros will have someone bring your personal vehicle to you (reported).

What Rockstar has shown
Ryde Me appears on the phone in the Extended Look. The name had surfaced a year earlier, when press reported that Take-Two registered rydeme.app alongside what-up.app and buckme.app. Nothing in Rockstar’s footage shows a fast-travel menu on the map.
What previews reported
- Transit is how you cover distance. Previewers list buses, trains, trams, taxis and Ryde Me (Vice).
- Car delivery is new. Scooter Bros sends someone to deliver your personal vehicle, which GTA V’s story mode never offered (Vice).
- Waypoints without the map. Holding a button sets a destination without opening the map (Rob Nelson via Famitsu).
- Shared rides. Beebom reports you can talk to other passengers on a ride, which hints at carpooling.
- Fuel. Cars use fuel. Holding R2 for about 10 seconds at a gas station refuels, per Vice. A delivered or stolen car may need filling; see our fuel page.
What we expect
- No rides while wanted. Nobody has shown what Ryde Me does with stars on the HUD. Expect to lose them first; our wanted level guide shows how.
- Limits mid-mission. Some story jobs will probably lock the app. That is our guess, not a report.
- Fares. GTA V charged for taxis and charged more to skip the trip. Something similar is likely here.
Getting around the map
