GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Any PC or phone download, beta invite, paid early access or free copy is a scam. Get the game from the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Store or a retailer you already trust, and never type a password into a page you reached from a link someone sent you.
Most GTA 6 scams fall apart once you know four facts. The game is only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nobody plays early: on PS5 it unlocks at the same moment for everyone in a store region, midnight on November 19, 2026 in that region’s main time zone (9 PM PT on November 18 on the US West Coast). There is no beta, no paid early access and no free copy. And the $399.99 Collector’s Box comes from the Rockstar Store, or in Australia from EB Games. If an offer contradicts any of those, walk away.
The facts that expose most scams
| What the scam says | What is true | Status |
|---|---|---|
| “GTA 6 PC download” or “PC key” | Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only; a PC version has not been announced | official |
| “GTA 6 APK” or “GTA 6 mobile” | No phone or tablet version exists or has been announced | official |
| “GTA 6 on Steam” on November 19 | GTA 6 has no PC version; Phantom Vice Auto, which its Steam page lists for that date, is a different game | reported |
| Beta, playtest or paid early access | None announced; everyone in a store region unlocks at the same moment | not announced |
| Free copies and giveaways | Rockstar has announced no giveaway | not announced |
| “Deluxe”, “Gold” or “Collector’s Edition” of the game | The game comes as Standard ($79.99) or Ultimate ($99.99) only | official |
| Collector’s Box with the game inside | The box is merchandise; Rockstar says the game is sold separately | official |
| “Trailer 3 is out” | Rockstar has never released anything called Trailer 3, and there is no launch trailer yet | not announced |
| Official GTA 6 strategy guide book | None announced; a “guide” book on sale now cannot contain a real walkthrough | not announced |
Fake PC downloads and APKs
Because there is no PC version, every “GTA 6 PC download”, ISO or crack is fake, and many carry malware. On September 9, 2026 the security firm Huntress published its analysis of a fake GTA 6 ISO. The installer, gta6installer.exe, still carried GTA 5’s icon and showed a “License not found” error while it quietly installed remote-access trojans, the Mercurial Grabber stealer and Chaos ransomware used as a file wiper. The stealer goes after Discord tokens, saved Chrome passwords and cookies, and Windows product keys. Huntress adds that some of these fake ISOs top 100 GB, padded with junk so they look real. reported
Rockstar’s own account-safety advice says the same thing in one line: do not download software from third-party sources, including cracked games. A “GTA 6 APK” is no safer. There is no mobile version, so an APK is at best a different game with GTA art on it and at worst malware. Our PC page tracks the real PC status.
“GTA 6 on Steam”: Phantom Vice Auto
Watch out on Steam around launch day. Phantom Vice Auto, a GTA-style game from a small studio called Brgames Interactive, is listed on Steam as early access for November 19, 2026, the same day GTA 6 comes out. It is not GTA 6, and Rockstar did not make it (Steam listing, checked September 28; Polygon, September 26). Polygon also points out its familiar-looking logo. reported
A Steam search for GTA VI on September 28 found no GTA VI page, because there is no PC version. So if a store page, ad or video offers “GTA 6 on Steam” or “GTA 6 for PC” in November, it is another game or a scam. If you want Phantom Vice Auto itself, that is up to you; just do not buy it thinking it is GTA 6.
Fake betas, early access and “VIP” pre-orders
No player can buy their way in before the release time. On PS5 the US unlock is midnight ET, which is 9 PM PT on November 18. Australia and New Zealand get there hours sooner because their midnight comes first, but that is the same launch, not early access. Pre-ordering buys a pre-load from November 12, not play time. The early access explainer covers every “can I play early” question.
Scammers sell it anyway. In June 2026 Malwarebytes found sites selling “VIP Digital Access” and an “Exclusive Early Access Preview”. One charged $250, payable only in Bitcoin, USDT or Ethereum. Buyers were told to enter their transaction ID to unlock the download, the game never appeared, and crypto payments cannot be reversed. reported
Beta invites arrive by direct message too. PlayStation’s security page lists invitations to game beta tests among the scam messages to watch for, along with claims that your account was reported by mistake and offers to help restore it, and requests to sign in through a link. official
Giveaways and “free GTA 6”
A giveaway that asks you to sign in, share a code, pay for shipping or scan a QR code is after your account, not handing out games. PlayStation warns against sites offering free currency in exchange for account details, and against QR codes sent by other people with promises of vouchers, gift cards or in-game items. official Rockstar warns about scam third-party services that ask for your login. official
The only free extra that is real is one month of GTA+ with a digital pre-order on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. It is claimed inside your own store account; see how to claim the free GTA+ month.
Fake and resold Collector’s Box listings
Rockstar’s collector’s set, The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, is real, and a one-per-person limit makes it an easy target for resellers. The facts:
- $399.99 in the US on the Rockstar Store, the only seller Rockstar names. One per person, and you must log in to the Rockstar Store to buy. official
- In Australia, EB Games sold it, at A$699.95 with a A$100 deposit, one per customer, from September 28; its listing read “Presold Out” the same day. That is EB Games’ own listing, a real retail order, not a reseller. reported
- No game inside. The store says the game is sold separately. A listing that bundles “the Collector’s Edition with the game” is wrong or a reseller’s own bundle. official
- Ships from November 19, 2026 to 23 countries: the US, Canada, the UK and 20 in Europe. Asia and Latin America have no seller yet (Rockstar says details are coming), and New Zealand is not mentioned, so a box offered for delivery there now is a resale, not a Rockstar order. official
Within a day of the September 24 announcement, eBay listings asked about $800 to $1,750 while Rockstar still had stock, according to Beebom. In Australia, POPTOPIC saw resale listings asking A$990 to A$1,499 within hours of EB Games selling out. reported Those are asking prices, and no box ships until November 19, so a seller can only be passing on a pre-order. Apart from EB Games in Australia, any listing outside the Rockstar Store is a reseller, not Rockstar, and a seller asking for payment by gift card, crypto or bank transfer should end the conversation. A boxed “Collector’s Edition” of the game, or any box that comes with a disc or the game, is fake. The rest of the warning signs are under how to spot a fake listing on our Collector’s Box page, next to the full item list and those press reports.
Cheap codes from key sites
Codes far below $79.99 on marketplaces are the other trap. On PlayStation, Rockstar says a game code only works on an account from the region where it was sold, and it says Japanese codes expire 170 days after launch. official A grey-market code can be for the wrong region, already used, or bought with a stolen card and later revoked. Stick to the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Store (which sells the boxed Standard Edition at $79.99) or a big retailer. To reach a store, type store.playstation.com, xbox.com or store.rockstargames.com yourself, or use the store app on your console, rather than following a link from a post, DM or ad. Prices by country are on GTA 6 price by country, and the store routes are in how to pre-order GTA 6.
Phishing for your Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox account
Be wary of any email or text that asks you to “claim your GTA 6 bonus” or “verify your pre-order”. Rockstar says phishing emails masquerade as official Rockstar mail, so check the sender’s domain and the link before you click; its Keep Your Account Safe page lists the only domains Rockstar emails come from. Never share your password, a two-step verification code, a PIN or your Rockstar Games QR code with anyone. official
Turn on two-step verification on every account tied to the game. Rockstar calls it the best way to secure your account; you add an authenticator app under Account, Manage Account, Security on rockstargames.com. official PlayStation accounts support two-step verification and passkeys, and Microsoft accounts have two-step verification in their security settings.
If you already clicked, paid or signed in
- Change the password on the account you typed it into, going to the real site by typing the address yourself. Change it anywhere else you used the same password.
- Turn on two-step verification if it was off.
- Check the account for a changed email address, third-party connections you did not approve and sign-ins from devices you do not know. Rockstar asks you to report anything suspicious to Rockstar Support.
- If you ran a download, disconnect the PC from the internet and scan it. Huntress’s advice for its fake installer goes further: reset your passwords, turn on two-factor sign-in and reinstall Windows.
- If you paid, call your bank or card company about a chargeback. Crypto payments usually cannot be reversed.
- Report it (below), so the site or account gets taken down.
How to report a GTA 6 scam
- United States: report fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The FTC also asks you to forward phishing emails to reportphishing@apwg.org and scam texts to 7726 (SPAM).
- United Kingdom: forward scam emails to report@phishing.gov.uk, the National Cyber Security Centre’s reporting address. If you lost money in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, report it to Report Fraud at reportfraud.police.uk or on 0300 123 2040; in Scotland, call Police Scotland on 101.
- Everywhere else: your national consumer protection agency or the police fraud unit.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a GTA 6 APK or mobile version?
No. Rockstar lists GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no phone version has been announced. Anything sold or shared as a GTA 6 APK is either a different game in disguise or malware, so do not install it.
Can I download GTA 6 on PC?
No. A PC version has not been announced, so every GTA 6 PC download, ISO or key is fake. In September 2026 the security firm Huntress took apart a fake GTA 6 installer and found remote-access trojans, a password stealer and ransomware used to wipe files. Steam has no GTA VI page either: Phantom Vice Auto, a GTA-style game listed on Steam for November 19, 2026, is a different game from a different studio.
Is there a GTA 6 beta or early access?
No public beta, playtest or paid early access has been announced. On PS5 the game unlocks at midnight on November 19, 2026 in each store region's main time zone, which is 9 PM PT on November 18 on the US West Coast; Xbox has not listed a time. PlayStation warns that direct messages inviting you to a game beta are a trick scammers use to get into accounts.
Are GTA 6 giveaways real?
Treat them as fake unless they come from an account you know is official, and even then never hand over a password, a sign-in code or card details to enter. Rockstar has not announced any GTA 6 giveaway. The one free extra that is real is a month of GTA+ with a digital pre-order on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store.
Where can I safely get the GTA 6 Collector's Box?
From the Rockstar Store, at $399.99 in the US, one per person, shipping from November 19, 2026, with no game included. In Australia the seller was EB Games (A$699.95), and its listing read Presold Out on September 28. Resale listings reportedly asked about $800 to $1,750 on eBay and A$990 to A$1,499 in Australia, so check the official seller first.
What should I do if I typed my password into a fake GTA 6 site?
Change that password straight away from the real site, change it anywhere else you used it, and turn on two-step verification. Then check the account for changes you did not make and contact Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox support if anything looks wrong.
