What GTA6.how is

Two things in one site. The wiki is a reference to everything Rockstar has shown of GTA 6: the characters, the map of Leonida and its districts, vehicles, weapons, gangs, brands, animals and game systems like the wanted level. Every entry carries a status and its own sources, and the wiki index lists them A to Z.

The guides answer "how do I" questions: how to pre-order without getting billed for GTA+, how to pre-load on a full Series S, how to switch between Jason and Lucia. Before launch, each guide says whether it is built from official footage or checked against a store or Rockstar Support page. After November 19 they are rewritten from the actual game. Start at the guides hub. Around both sit explainers (release date, price, platforms) and a news feed.

Not affiliated with Rockstar

GTA6.how is an independent fan publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, Sony Interactive Entertainment or Microsoft. Grand Theft Auto, GTA, GTA VI, Rockstar Games and related marks are trademarks of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. PlayStation is a trademark of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Xbox of Microsoft. We use those names only to describe the products.

How we tag facts

Every claim carries one of four labels, as a badge or in the wording around it.

LabelWhat it means
officialSaid by Rockstar Games, Take-Two, Sony or Microsoft through an official channel: rockstargames.com, the Rockstar Newswire, Rockstar Support, a press release, an SEC filing, an earnings call, or a PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store listing.
reportedPublished by a credible outlet such as IGN, Kotaku, Bloomberg, Variety, GamesRadar, Push Square or The New York Times. Quotes from Rockstar staff in interviews and previews count here, because Rockstar did not publish them itself.
rumorInsider claims, leaks, dataminers, fan wikis, and fan identification of names or real-world places, even when drawn from official screenshots.
not announcedNot announced. We say so plainly and keep the page ready for the day the answer arrives.

Anything visible in an official trailer, the Extended Look or an official screenshot counts as shown. What we infer from it is labeled as our reading. We never put "confirmed" on a claim unless one of those four companies made it, and we do not round up: if a Rockstar developer tells a newspaper his playthrough took about 80 hours, we report that as his playthrough, not as the official story length.

Where the facts come from

Primary sources come first: rockstargames.com/VI, the Newswire, Rockstar Support, Take-Two's press releases and SEC filings, the PlayStation Blog, and the two console stores. We read them ourselves rather than trusting a summary. Credible outlets fill in what official channels do not say, and we name the outlet in the text. Fan databases and community mapping projects are useful for leads; anything that rests only on them is tagged rumor, and we credit whose work it is. Every article ends with a numbered, dated source list.

No leaked media

GTA 6 has had two major breaches, the September 2022 hack and the August 2026 clips, and Trailer 1 leaked about 15 hours before its planned release in December 2023. We report that those events happened, when, and what Rockstar said, because that is news; the GTA 6 leaks timeline covers them.

We do not host, embed or link leaked footage, screenshots or map images, and we never use leaked material as the source for a game fact. Names that press reported from leaks appear only as rumors, only on pages about rumors, such as radio station names. Every game image on this site is an official Rockstar asset, credited on the page.

Corrections and the "What changed" log

When a fact changes or we get something wrong, we fix it on the page, move the Updated date and add one dated line to the "What changed on this page" list above the sources, newest first. You can see one at the bottom of GTA 6 on PS5. Typo fixes do not move the date; changed facts always do.

Spotted an error? Email hello@gta6.how with the page URL and, ideally, a link to a better source. We would rather be corrected than be wrong for a week.

Who writes it

GTA6.how is written and checked by The Cyber, a software developer and security researcher. Every page, guide and wiki entry goes through the same checks: primary source read, status assigned, sources dated. Until November 19, 2026 we recheck the Newswire, Rockstar Support and both console stores at least twice a week.

How the site is funded

GTA6.how earns money through the Amazon Associates program: when you buy something through one of our Amazon links, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. There are no banner ads and no sponsored content. The commission never affects a fact, a status tag or what we recommend. Paid links are marked as paid wherever they appear, and the affiliate disclosure explains how they work and how we choose products.

Why ".how"

Because the useful questions about a game are practical. How do I claim the free GTA+ month and stop it renewing. How do I make room on a 512 GB Series S when the file size is not even announced. How do I lose a six-star wanted level. Plenty of sites tell you what GTA 6 is; this one is built around what to do with it, before launch and after.

Frequently asked questions

Is GTA6.how an official Rockstar site?

No. GTA6.how is an independent fan site with no link to Rockstar Games, Take-Two, Sony or Microsoft. The official GTA 6 site is rockstargames.com/VI.

What is the difference between confirmed and reported?

Confirmed means Rockstar, Take-Two, Sony or Microsoft said it through an official channel such as the Newswire, a store listing or an SEC filing. Reported means a credible outlet published it, including Rockstar staff quoted in interviews.

Does GTA6.how show leaked GTA 6 footage?

No. We report that leaks happened and what Rockstar said about them, but we never host, embed or link leaked footage, screenshots or map images.

How do I report a mistake?

Email hello@gta6.how with the page URL and, if you have one, a better source. Fixes go on the page with a dated line in its "What changed" log.

What changed on this page

  • Added how the site is funded: Amazon Associates paid links, which are marked and never affect facts or status tags.
  • Rewrote the page to explain the wiki and guides, the fact tags, the no-leaked-media rule and the "What changed" log, and dated the source list. Removed a rumored 200 GB file size that read as if it were known, and corrected the contact section, which had said we take no affiliate placements: some product links are Amazon affiliate links, explained on the disclosure page.
