Who is Lucia Caminos
Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable leads in Grand Theft Auto VI, alongside Jason Duval. She was the first character Rockstar showed: Trailer 1 opens on her in an orange jumpsuit across a desk from Stefanie, a corrections counselor, who asks, “Lucia, do you know why you’re here?” Trailer 2 picks up the thread with Jason waiting outside Leonida Penitentiary to drive her away.
She is also a series first. Lucia is the first non-optional, fully voiced female protagonist in a mainline GTA. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported the Latina lead back in July 2022, more than a year before Rockstar showed her. reported
Official background
Rockstar’s bio says her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and life has been swinging at her ever since. Fighting for her family put her in Leonida Penitentiary; sheer luck got her out. Her mother has chased the good life since the family’s Liberty City days, and Lucia wants it too, on her own terms. A life with Jason looks like her way out. official
Rupert Humphries, Rockstar’s senior vice president of narrative, told Dazed the game is a Bonnie and Clyde type of story, and Vice’s preview report says the pair’s relationship choices may affect how parts of the story unfold, although Rockstar hasn’t explained how significant those changes are. reported
Appearance and personality
- Hair: braids in the prison scenes, a high bun, a ponytail, and long curls with a red sequin mini dress in the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Details: arm tattoos and hoop earrings across the official screenshots.
- Style: gym wear and training gloves, a leather jacket, club outfits, a duffel bag and pistol on a job.
- Temperament: a fighter who has settled on “only smart moves” (Rockstar’s words) and would rather take the good life than wait for it.
Where she appears
Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023). The prison office with Stefanie. Riding passenger with a stack of cash. Walking the aisles of Uncle Jack’s Liquor with Jason, then robbing it. Embracing Jason at the Starlet Motel.
Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025). Walking out of Leonida Penitentiary to Jason’s car. Drinking with Jason at a waterfront bar, heading into a club in a gold sequin dress, a disguised home job in a hi-vis vest, and a motel gunfight with Jason covering her from a doorway.
An Extended Look (August 27, 2026). official
- Goes to collect Boobie Ike’s package at the Venture Apartments, hides in an elevator during Mendez’s raid and escapes through Aunt Tee’s window.
- Is at the Effluvia meeting where Brian Heder says his client wants only one of them. Engadget’s recap says she stands up and leaves the job to Jason; the gta.wiki synopsis does not describe that (reported).
- Drives Raul Bautista’s getaway Schafter across the causeways, then torches it with a Molotov and switches to a Burrito van.
- A masked raid on Zeke’s Gadgets, and a police chase with a livestreamer hanging out of the trunk of her stolen car. An optional livestream feed opens with R3, which Engadget reads as a nod to GTA V’s Lifeinvader.
- Taken hostage at the Megamundo opening, slips away during Jason’s distraction, and falls down an elevator shaft mid-fight.
Official screenshots. Rockstar’s screenshots, including the batch published with the Extended Look on August 27, 2026, show her training at a gym, by a pool, on a sport bike outside a liquor bar, in a nightclub and leaving a check-cashing store with a duffel bag.
Relationships
Jason Duval. Her partner. Reporting from the July 2026 hands-off previews at Rockstar North says the romance is optional and grows through shared activities (kayaking, beach walks and the zoo, per Vice’s September 1 report, and gym visits, per its September 5 roundup; texting and holding hands, per other recaps) rather than a meter. Skip it and they stay partners in crime. reported See the relationship explainer.
Her parents. Her father taught her to fight; her mother’s dream of the good life drives her. Neither has been shown.
Mendez leads the raid she hides from. Valentina hires her and Jason as security. Raul Bautista asks whether she is a professional.
Notable lines
- “The only thing that matters is who you know and what you got.” Rockstar’s official site.
- “I guess they know we’re coming.” Walking up to the Venture Apartments, Extended Look.
Who plays Lucia
No cast is announced. Manni L. Perez is the name most often attached to Lucia, on resemblance, voice and small past roles in GTA V and GTA Online. She has not confirmed it. Outlets disagree on whether she ever denied it: Dexerto (September 20, 2026) says she did, without saying where, and GameRant (September 23) says she has never confirmed nor denied the role. Either way it stays a rumor. rumor Every casting claim is tracked on the GTA 6 voice cast page.
What we don’t know yet
- What she did to end up in prison, and how long she served.
- Whether her release comes with conditions, such as parole, and whether they limit where she can go.
- How many endings there are, and how much the relationship decides which one you get.
- Whether her skills differ from Jason’s. Her sidearm, the Klose K17, is the only official difference so far.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Lucia in GTA 6?
Lucia Caminos is one of GTA 6's two playable protagonists. Rockstar's bio says fighting for her family put her in Leonida Penitentiary and luck got her out. She leaves prison committed to a plan with Jason Duval, and the pair's story runs across the state of Leonida.
Who voices Lucia in GTA 6?
Nobody is announced. Manni L. Perez is the name fans and outlets repeat, based on resemblance, voice and small past roles in GTA V and GTA Online. She has not confirmed it, and outlets disagree on whether she ever denied it: Dexerto says she did, GameRant says she has never confirmed nor denied the role. Rockstar has named no cast, so treat it as a rumor until the credits.
Is Lucia the first female protagonist in GTA?
She is the first mandatory, fully voiced female lead in a mainline GTA. The 1997 original and GTA Online let players pick a woman, but those characters were silent or optional.
Why was Lucia in prison?
Rockstar's bio says only that fighting for her family landed her in Leonida Penitentiary and sheer luck got her out. The crime and the length of her sentence have not been revealed.
Does Lucia wear an ankle monitor in GTA 6?
Not that any source documents. Trailer 2 shows her walking out of Leonida Penitentiary to Jason's car, but Rockstar's material and the timestamped trailer breakdowns we checked do not mention an ankle monitor, and the terms of her release have not been revealed.
What changed on this page
- Corrected the casting note: outlets disagree on whether Manni L. Perez ever denied playing Lucia (Dexerto says she did, GameRant says she has never confirmed nor denied it), so we no longer state a denial as fact.
- Removed the ankle monitor from her Trailer 2 release scene: no source we could check documents it.
- Corrected Stefanie's name, the ankle monitor answer and the screenshot date, added Lucia's official taglines, weapon and look, and changed the Manni L. Perez casting claim to rumor. Also replaced an unsourced line about the relationship deciding the ending with what Vice's preview report actually says, and credited the date activities to Vice: kayaking, beach walks and the zoo (September 1) and gym visits (September 5). Credited her leaving the Effluvia meeting to Engadget's recap, since the gta.wiki synopsis does not describe it.
