How we rate a claim
- True only when Rockstar, Take-Two, Sony or Microsoft settled it: the official site, Newswire, a store listing, an SEC filing or an official social post. A reporter being right is not enough on its own.
- Partly true when the core of the claim was borne out officially but details were wrong, or only part of it has been shown.
- False when official information contradicts it, the person who started it admitted it was a joke or a fake, or the person it quotes says they never said it.
- Open when nothing has settled it either way. Open is not the same as likely: a Switch 2 version and the 2027 multiplayer claim are both open, on very different evidence.
We add a claim once it has spread far enough to confuse people, and we move it the day an official source settles it. Every change is logged in "What changed on this page" below and on our corrections page.
The patterns to recognize
- Named sources beat screenshots. The claims that came true had an accountable source, such as Bloomberg's Jason Schreier in 2022, or were followed by Rockstar acknowledging a leak. No claim in this table that rested on a screenshot of a store page, a Newswire post or a push alert has come true.
- Fabrication for clicks. The 676.7 GB screenshot and PC spec sheets exist because "gta 6 file size" and "gta 6 system requirements" are huge searches. A doctored image travels faster than a correction.
- Placeholder data presented as fact. Retailers create listings months early with dummy dates and edition names. A listing is not an announcement, and neither is a photo of a box in a warehouse: the September 2026 box photos came before a real collector's box, but the leaker's hint at a disc inside was wrong.
- Relabeling. Official videos get re-uploaded with a new title. Most "Trailer 3" uploads since August 27, 2026 are the Extended Look or a fan edit.
- Inference dressed as leak. A PS5 Pro badge becomes "60 fps confirmed." A court filing's "32 player format" becomes "GTA 6 Online revealed." A cautious podcast answer becomes "delay confirmed." The original fact is real; the headline is not.
- Promotion. Crypto-watermarked clips and fake giveaway pages use the game as bait. We do not link to any of them.

Which GTA 6 rumors turned out to be true?
Three are settled by Rockstar: Bloomberg's July 2022 report of a Vice City setting with a female lead, the September 2022 hack footage, and the early Trailer 1 leak in December 2023. Four more were partly right: GameRoll's 2025 feature list (the six-star wanted level is real), Tom Henderson's call of a trailer on August 6, 2026 (Rockstar posted a teaser for the Extended Look that day), the CYBERLEEK clips, which Rockstar acknowledged as leaks without naming them, and the September 2026 collector's edition rumor. Rockstar now sells a $399.99 Collector's Box, but it is merchandise with no game inside, and Rockstar has not commented on the leaked photos.
Is there a GTA 6 Collector's Edition?
Not of the game. On September 24, 2026 Rockstar opened pre-orders for The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, a $399.99 box of 11 collectibles sold on the Rockstar Store that ships from November 19. The game is sold separately, and GTA 6 itself still comes only as the Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) editions.
Is GTA 6 really 676 GB?
No. The 676.7 GB figure comes from a doctored Xbox Store screenshot that went viral on Christmas Eve 2025 and resurfaced in June 2026 through a self-described parody account. It even claimed Xbox One support, and GTA 6 is not on Xbox One. Rockstar has not announced a file size; estimates of 150 to 200 GB are guesses.
Has GTA 6 Trailer 3 been released?
No. Rockstar has released Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and a 26-minute gameplay video called "An Extended Look." It has never labeled anything Trailer 3. Any alert claiming Trailer 3 is out is either the Extended Look relabeled or a fake.
Has Rockstar announced the GTA 6 voice cast?
No. Rockstar has not named any performer, and reportedly reminded cast members in September 2026 that their NDAs run until November 19. Stephen Root has said he is in the game, and press ties that to Brian Heder, though his quoted words do not name the role. Every other name, including Manni L. Perez as Lucia and Dylan Rourke as Jason, is a rumor. Outlets disagree on Perez: Dexerto reports that she denied it, while GameRant says she has never confirmed nor denied the role.
How can I tell if a GTA 6 leak is fake?
Check whether it appears on rockstargames.com, the Rockstar Newswire or a Rockstar social account. If it only exists as a screenshot of a post, a Discord message or a video watermarked with a crypto token, assume it is fake until a named outlet verifies it.
