The Rialto Islands are a chain of small residential islands in the bay between mainland Vice City and Vice Beach. The Rialto Causeway crosses them as a toll road, and the islands are where the crew ditches its getaway car in the Extended Look. The getaway, step by step
The islands matter because of what the Extended Look does on them. It is the clearest example yet of how you shake a wanted level under the new six-star system without outrunning anyone.
- Lucia drives a black Schafter over the Admiral Causeway and picks up Raul Bautista after a robbery on Vice Beach, with Jason riding along (community synopsis).
- The police chase them through Vice Beach, and a police helicopter joins in.
- On the Rialto Islands, Lucia pulls into a parking lot. The crew switches to a van and torches the Schafter.
- The van rolls through the Rialto Causeway toll plaza, past police cars whose drivers do not give it a second look (community synopsis).
- Raul pays Jason and leaves on a scooter.

The toll road
The toll plaza is on screen. Community wikis call the operator Vice Pass, a play on Florida’s SunPass. The real Venetian Causeway is a toll road too, and The Miami Guide says the booths sit on the same route in the game. Nobody has shown what happens when you drive through: a charge, a camera, or nothing at all. Previews describe police who track your face, clothes and car, so a camera would fit, but that is a guess. reported
Real-world inspiration
Miami’s Venetian Islands, a row of man-made islands in Biscayne Bay between downtown Miami and Miami Beach, linked by the Venetian Causeway. The name is a Venice joke twice over: Venice’s Rialto takes its name from Rivo Alto, and Rivo Alto is also the name of one of Miami’s real Venetian Islands.
