The Ocean View Hotel is one of the clearest callbacks to the 2002 GTA Vice City. In GTA 6 it is a pastel art deco hotel on the Vice City beachfront with a neon sign, an outdoor bar and a pool. Rockstar names it in its own caption for one of the Vintage Vice City Pack images: Jason and Lucia outside the Ocean View Hotel, guns in hand, with the ‘55 Vapid Stanier behind them.
Where Rockstar shows it
| Where | What you see | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1, about 0:33 | The hotel’s sign on the neon beachfront strip, per community wikis | reported |
| Trailer 2 | The outdoor bar and pool, packed with guests, per community wikis | reported |
| Official Vice City screenshot | The OCEAN VIEW sign behind a Vice Beach Police cruiser, with an officer cuffing two women and a lit DIXON sign across the street | official |
| Real Dimez artwork | Ocean View Hotel signage behind Bae-Luxe and Roxy | official |
| Vintage Vice City Pack images | Jason and Lucia outside the hotel with the ‘55 Stanier; Rockstar’s caption names the hotel | official |
Community wikis also match the neon-wrapped palm trees behind Raul Bautista in one of his official screenshots to the hotel’s outdoor bar. That is a reading of the image, not a Rockstar caption. reported
Where it is
Community wikis put the hotel on Shore Drive in Ocean Beach, the strip Rockstar’s pre-order copy invites you to cruise in the Stanier. Everything on screen fits: art deco neighbors, the beach across the road, and a patrol car from the island’s own force, the Vice Beach Police, parked at the curb. Rockstar has not placed the hotel on a published map. The wider island city is covered on the Vice Beach page.
What you can do there
Nothing is announced. Previews say safehouses come from the story rather than being bought reported, and our map guide explains how interiors work. Our reading of Trailer 2 is that the ground floor works as a busy beach bar, and that a room you can rent here is unlikely.
The one property Rockstar places in this part of town is the pre-order Shore Court Garage, “a stone’s throw” from the sands of Ocean Beach. It comes with the pre-order bonus, along with the two-tone ‘55 Vapid Stanier from the hotel photo, 1980s outfits for both leads and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm tree shirt.
Tommy Vercetti’s first safehouse
In GTA Vice City (2002), set in 1986, the Ocean View Hotel on Ocean Drive was the first safehouse Tommy Vercetti got, unlocked after the opening mission “In the Beginning…”. His suite filled up with weapons and souvenirs as missions were completed. Vice City Stories (2006) kept the building but did not let you in.
GTA 6 is a separate, modern-day continuity. Rockstar mentions Tommy only in edition copy, through the shirt pattern and the Vercetti Estate, so the hotel is a nod to fans rather than a sign he is back. Vice City through the years covers every returning name.
Real-world inspiration
The Clevelander Hotel at 1020 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, known for its poolside bar. Dexerto says the signs are styled the same way, and the community wiki notes that the 2002 hotel drew on the Clevelander too. rumor
Still unknown
- Whether you can walk into the lobby or any room.
- Whether a mission is set here, beyond the pre-order photo shoot.
- Its exact position on Shore Drive, and which neighbors are official names. Community wikis read the Cortez, Dominion, Neptune and Paramour from footage.
Every beachfront shot is listed in order in the Trailer 1 breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Ocean View Hotel in GTA 6?
Yes. Rockstar's own caption for a Vintage Vice City Pack image describes Jason and Lucia standing outside the Ocean View Hotel with the '55 Vapid Stanier behind them. The hotel's neon sign also appears in an official Vice City screenshot and in the Real Dimez artwork.
Can you go inside the Ocean View Hotel?
Not announced. Trailer 2 shows its outdoor bar and pool in use, but Rockstar has not said whether the lobby or rooms are open. The in-game map should answer it at launch.
Is it Tommy Vercetti's hotel?
It was his first safehouse in GTA Vice City (2002). GTA 6 is a new, present-day Vice City, and Rockstar has given no sign that Tommy appears. The hotel is a callback, like the pre-order weapon pattern based on his palm tree shirt.
What real hotel is the Ocean View based on?
The Clevelander Hotel at 1020 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, according to fans and outlets such as Dexerto and The Miami Guide. Rockstar has not said so, but the sign lettering and the poolside bar match.
