Vice Beach comes from the game itself, not Rockstar’s copy: in one of Rockstar’s Vice City screenshots, two officers stand by a patrol car lettered VICEBEACH POLICE outside the neon Ocean View Hotel. Community wikis use the name for the island city on the ocean side of Vice City: the beaches, Ocean Beach’s art deco hotels and the resort strip to the north, tied to the mainland by causeways. It is, in effect, GTA 6’s Miami Beach.
Where the name appears
| Where | What you see | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Official Vice City screenshot | VICEBEACH POLICE, run together as one word, on the rear and bumper of a cruiser outside the Ocean View Hotel; Rockstar’s caption describes two women being handcuffed while another takes a selfie | official |
| Trailer 1 | Interstate 404 exit signs along Interstate 97 pointing to “Vice Beaches,” per the community GTA Wiki | reported |
| An Extended Look | Lucia crosses the Admiral Causeway to meet Raul Bautista on Vice Beach, per the community GTA Wiki’s synopsis | reported |
Rockstar’s text names Ocean Beach and Shore Drive but never Vice Beach, so stretching the name over the whole island is community mapping. rumor
What is on Vice Beach
| Place | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean Beach and Shore Drive | The art deco beach district and its hotel strip | official names; inside Vice Beach per community wikis |
| Ocean View Hotel | The returning 2002 hotel, with the Vice Beach cruiser outside | official |
| Washington Beach | Where the Ultimate Edition Squalo is docked | official name; placed here by community wikis |
| Shore Court Garage | The pre-order garage near Ocean Beach’s sands | official |
| Effluvia | Rooftop bar from the Extended Look; community wikis say Ocean Beach, Engadget says downtown | reported |
| Starfish Island | The 2002 mansion island, on fan maps but absent from official material | rumor |
What you can do there
Official material sells the beach side as the fun side of the city. Rockstar’s screenshots show a packed Vice City beach with a lifeguard stand and a lifeguard ATV, Trailer 2 has an open-air beach gym, and the hotels have bars and pools. The pre-order copy invites you to cruise Shore Drive in the ‘55 Vapid Stanier and park it at the Shore Court Garage, which is included with the pre-order bonus.
The island has crime too. In the Extended Look, Lucia drives over the Admiral Causeway to meet Raul Bautista for his bank job, police chase the crew through Vice Beach, and they swap cars on the Rialto Islands before leaving over the Rialto Causeway (names per the community GTA Wiki). reported
Its own police force
The cruiser suggests Vice Beach has its own department, separate from the Vice City Police Department and the county’s Vice-Dale Police Department, as the real Miami Beach does. That is our reading of the lettering. How the forces hand off a chase when you cross a causeway with a wanted level has not been described. Every agency seen so far is on the police page.
Real-world inspiration
Miami Beach, the city on the barrier island east of Miami across Biscayne Bay. Ocean Beach plays South Beach and Washington Beach plays Mid-Beach. rumor
The real city is leaning in. On September 10, 2026, Miami Beach commissioners voted 4-3 on small Vice City or VI logos for beach chairs and umbrellas. GTA BOOM says the vote only lets the city manager negotiate; Miami New Times reported it as approving an agreement with Rockstar’s marketing firm, Amplify Marketing, worth up to $4 million. reported
Still unknown
- Whether the map labels Vice Beach as its own city or folds it into Vice City’s neighborhoods.
- Its full neighborhood list. Only Ocean Beach, Shore Drive and Washington Beach are official names.
- Whether the Vice Beach Police behave any differently from mainland cops.
Frequently asked questions
Is Vice Beach in GTA 6?
Yes. A patrol car lettered VICEBEACH POLICE stands outside the Ocean View Hotel in one of Rockstar's official Vice City screenshots. Rockstar's written copy never uses the name, and calling the whole island Vice Beach comes from community wikis.
Is Vice Beach the same as Ocean Beach?
No. Ocean Beach is the art deco district Rockstar names in its Vice City text. Vice Beach is, per community wikis, the whole barrier-island city that contains it, the way South Beach sits inside the city of Miami Beach.
How do you get to Vice Beach?
Over the causeways. In the Extended Look, Lucia drives over the Admiral Causeway to meet Raul Bautista on Vice Beach, and the getaway van later leaves over the Rialto Causeway, through its toll plaza (names per community wikis).
Who polices Vice Beach?
The Vice Beach Police, going by the lettering on the cruiser in Rockstar's screenshot. Mainland material shows the Vice City Police Department and the county's Vice-Dale Police Department, so the island appears to have its own force, like the real Miami Beach. How they share a chase has not been described.
