What Sony's store listing and GTA 6 page confirm
Sony has two official pages for the PS5 version: the PlayStation Store listing, which carries the short tags such as "1 player" and "PS5 Pro Enhanced", and PlayStation's official GTA 6 page, which adds the feature list and the PS4 line. Checked on September 23, 2026, between them they say:

Every PS5 model runs it
There is one PS5 version of GTA 6, and it plays on the original PS5, the PS5 Slim, the Digital Editions and the PS5 Pro. official A Digital Edition needs no disc drive for it, because the boxed copy is a download code, not a disc. The Pro adds whatever its "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label turns out to cover. What really differs between models is free space, covered under storage below.
PS Portal, PS Plus and cloud streaming
You can play GTA 6 on a PlayStation Portal by streaming it from your own PS5. The PlayStation Store listing says "Remote Play supported" official, and Sony says the Portal plays compatible games installed on your PS5 over Wi-Fi, with the console on or in Rest Mode, and without a PS Plus membership. That is Sony's rule for PS5 games in general. Neither Sony nor Rockstar has said anything about GTA 6 on the Portal specifically.
What you cannot do yet is play without a PS5. Sony's cloud streaming, part of PS Plus Premium, covers a catalog of PS5 games and select digital games from your library, and GTA 6 has not been announced for it. not announced Planning to play on a Portal on launch night? Pre-load on November 12 and leave the PS5 in Rest Mode so it is ready to connect.
You do not need PS Plus to play GTA 6 either. The listing says "1 player" and "Offline play enabled", and Sony sells PS Plus for online multiplayer, its game catalogs and cloud saves. A future online mode may change that; nothing is announced.
"Plays Best On PlayStation 5"
Rockstar's official site carries the line "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" and links to a Sony partner page. That is co-marketing, the kind of deal Sony signs for big third-party launches. Its terms are not public; the visible result so far is Sony's pair of GTA 6 DualSense controllers. It does not tell you the PS5 version runs better than the Xbox version, because Rockstar has published no performance figures for either.
What little gameplay has been shown ran on PS5. Rockstar says the 26-minute Extended Look was "captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5". In July 2026 press and creators watched Rob Nelson play at Rockstar North, hands-off.
Frame rate: 30 fps reported, 60 fps undecided
Rockstar has not announced a frame rate or a performance mode for PS5 or PS5 Pro. not announced The only account is secondhand: YouTuber Davy Jones said Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, told visitors the consoles were running the game at 30 fps during development, with 60 fps a question for the technical team (Kotaku, August 27, 2026), and Digital Foundry measured the PS5-captured Extended Look at a stable 30 fps. reported The detail, console by console and next to Rockstar's launch record, is on GTA 6 frame rate on PS5, Pro and Xbox, and the report itself is in our 30 fps news post.
PS5 Pro Enhanced
The badge on the PlayStation Store listing means the game has Pro-specific improvements. Sony uses it for higher resolution, better ray tracing, PSSR upscaling, a higher frame rate, or a mix. Nobody has said which applies here. The Pro's extra GPU power makes a sharper image the likeliest gain; a 60 fps mode is less likely if the CPU is the limit, as Digital Foundry suggests. That is our reading, not an announcement. If you are thinking of buying a Pro for GTA 6, wait for the details. The Pro is also hard to find: a Sony memo to distributors, reported by PlayStation LifeStyle on September 18, 2026, says the shortage runs "through early 2027 at the earliest". reported GTA 6 on PS5 Pro tracks what the badge covers and where stock stands.
DualSense controllers and bundles
Sony revealed two Limited Edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers on September 3, 2026. Both cost $84.99 and launch November 19. Both have a shimmering, color-shifting finish with palm trees molded into the shell: the white one is themed on Vice City's beaches and sunsets, the black one on its nightlife. The black one is sold only through PlayStation Direct where it operates, and through select retailers elsewhere. Pre-orders opened September 10. Sony has not announced a GTA 6 PS5 console bundle, a Pro bundle or a themed console cover. GTA 6 bundles tracks any that appear.
Pre-ordering on PS5

- GTA+. Digital Standard or Ultimate purchases before November 20 add one month of GTA+, Rockstar's membership for GTA Online. Claim it on the GTA+ page in the PlayStation Store by March 31, 2027, once per account. It auto-renews at $7.99 a month and renewals are generally not refundable. - Refunds. If you paid more than 14 days before release, Sony lets you cancel any time before release, as long as you have not started downloading the game. Paid 14 days or less before release, you have 14 days from your order, with the same download rule. official Pre-loading counts as downloading, and pre-load opens on November 12, or 9:00 PM Pacific on November 11 in the US if PS5 follows the store clock as the unlock does (our reading). - Physical. The boxed PS5 copy is the Standard Edition with a download code inside, no disc, so a Digital Edition PS5 can use it. Rockstar Support says a physical Ultimate Edition is not available, and that PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the region they were sold for. official Amazon's US listing says the same of its box: the code only works on PlayStation accounts registered to the US or Canada, so buyers elsewhere should shop locally. Storage on PS5
Rockstar has not announced an install size. Estimates of 150 to 200 GB are rumor.

Sony does not publish usable space. PCMag's PS5 Slim review (November 9, 2023) measured 848 GB free on the 1 TB Slim and 667 GB on the 825 GB launch model, and Press Start (November 6, 2024) puts the PS5 Pro at about 1.89 TB.
