GTA 6 student discount: what exists and what does not

No official student price

GTA 6 has one price for everyone: $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US. official When we read the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings on September 28, 2026, neither showed a student price or a student offer for GTA 6, and neither Sony nor Microsoft has announced one. Standard is the whole game, so for most students the saving that exists is simply not paying $20 for Ultimate on day one. The $20 upgrade can be bought any time later. Target's student offer (August 2026)

In mid-August, Target offered 20% off GTA 6 pre-orders to students through its Target Circle program. reported What the reports said:

• Who: LevelUp (August 12) said students who verify their status in Target Circle Students qualified. IGN (August 13) said students and teachers who verify their status in Target Circle qualified.
• What: 20% off the Standard Edition on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, which IGN put at $63.99 instead of $79.99. LevelUp said the Ultimate Edition was not included. Ultimate is digital-only, so no store sells it in a box anyway. official
• When: IGN said you qualified if you placed the pre-order before September 12.
• Where: Target in the US only, according to LevelUp.

Is it still running? Probably not. IGN's cutoff of September 12 has passed, and on September 28 Target's GTA 6 listings showed $79.99 and no student offer to a shopper who was not signed in. Target ties these offers to a verified Target Circle account, so a signed-out check cannot rule out a new one (our reading). If you are a verified Target Circle student or teacher, look for a GTA 6 offer in your Target Circle deals before you buy.

If you do find a Target offer, two things to know. Target sells the same box as every retailer: a download code with no disc, the Standard Edition, available from November 12. And on PlayStation the code only works on an account from the region it was sold for, so a US Target box needs a US or Canadian account. official More on the box: the GTA 6 physical edition.

Prime for Young Adults: a membership, not a discount

Amazon's Prime for Young Adults is Prime for people aged 18 to 24 and for students. When we read Amazon's page on September 28, 2026, it offered the first 6 months free, then Amazon's monthly membership price. It is not a GTA 6 discount: the game costs the same with or without it. What it does for someone buying the boxed copy on Amazon:

• Release-day delivery. Amazon's help pages say Release-Date Delivery on eligible pre-orders is free for Prime members who choose Two-Day Shipping. That matters because the box is a code you need in hand to pre-load from November 12.
• Prime-only sales. It counts as Prime for Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days on October 6-7, where the sale prices are for members. See GTA 6 deals.

Other honest ways to pay less

• Buy Standard. It is the full game. Standard plus the $20 upgrade costs the same as Ultimate, so waiting costs nothing. official
• Use points you already have. Engadget reported on September 26 that some Xbox players covered pre-orders with Microsoft Rewards or Xbox Mastercard points. reported
• Do not buy from another country. Some regions look cheaper on GTA 6 price by country, but Rockstar Support says PlayStation codes are region-locked, and store accounts and gift cards are tied to one country. official
• Skip key-reseller sites. Cheap codes on key-reseller sites can be region-locked or revoked, and any GTA 6 PC key is fake because there is no PC version. See how to avoid GTA 6 scams.

Military and teacher discounts

Rockstar, Sony and Microsoft have not announced a military or teacher price for GTA 6. not announced The only teacher offer reported so far is the same Target Circle offer, which IGN said covered teachers too, for pre-orders placed before September 12. We will add any official student, teacher or military offer here with the date we checked it.
