GTA 6 price: $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate

What each price buys

The Standard Edition at $79.99 is the full game: the whole story, the whole map, both leads. The Ultimate Edition at $99.99 adds a set of extras that Rockstar says are "threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story," so they turn up as you progress rather than all on day one.

The extras include a '95 Grotti Cheetah, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with its own garage, a Shitzu Squalo speedboat with a weapons crate, a his-and-hers pair of Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, five shops that only open for Ultimate owners, a gang-compound raid and a car-restoration commission (Vice reports two exclusive side missions). Both editions get the Vintage Vice City Pack if bought before November 20, 2026: a '55 Vapid Stanier, the Shore Court Garage, 1980s outfits for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon pattern.

The $20 upgrade path

Rockstar sells the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately for $20 and says Standard owners can buy it at any time. Standard ($79.99) plus the upgrade ($20) equals Ultimate ($99.99), so there is no saving for buying Ultimate up front and no penalty for waiting. The same holds outside the US: the Microsoft Store charges £20, €20, CA$30, AU$30 or NZ$35 for the upgrade, and in each case Standard plus the upgrade equals the local Ultimate price.

If you are unsure, buy Standard, play for a week, and upgrade if you want the cars. Boxed-copy owners use the same upgrade once they have redeemed the code, because Rockstar Support says there is no physical Ultimate Edition. The steps are in how to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition.

Regional prices

Rockstar published the US and UK prices. The eurozone, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand prices are read from the PlayStation Store listings on September 23, 2026, and the Microsoft Store charges the same. The rest of the table on the by-country page comes from Vice's June 29 survey.

Japan, Brazil, India, Mexico and 19 more regions are on GTA 6 price by country, with each price converted to US dollars. In the UK, O2 also sells the game on 0% finance: £20 up front, then £1.39 a month for 36 months, £70.04 in total.

What is the cheapest way to get GTA 6?

Buy the Standard Edition for $79.99 from a store in your own country. It is the whole game, and the $20 Ultimate upgrade can wait until you know you want the extra cars and shops. There is no budget edition. official

• Look for a retailer price on the box. Retailers set their own price on the boxed Standard Edition, so a sale on the code-in-a-box copy is the most realistic discount. It is still a download code with no disc; see the GTA 6 physical edition.
• Students. Target's Circle student program offered verified US students 20% off the Standard Edition, LevelUp reported on August 12, and IGN said it covered pre-orders placed before September 12; Target showed no student offer to a signed-out shopper when we checked on September 28. reported What else exists for students is on the GTA 6 student discount page.
• Pay with discounted store credit. PlayStation Store or Xbox gift cards bought on sale, or retailer reward points, lower what you actually pay for a digital copy. On Xbox, account balance is taken when you order, not about 10 days before launch like a card. official
• Do not shop abroad. Some regions look cheaper on the price by country table, but Rockstar Support says PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the region they were sold for. official Xbox codes are not region-locked, but store accounts and gift cards are still tied to one country.
• Skip grey-market keys. Codes sold below list price on key-reseller sites can be region-locked, revoked or stolen, and there is no PC version, so a "GTA 6 PC key" is fake. See how to avoid GTA 6 scams.

Will GTA 6 be cheaper on Black Friday?

Nobody has announced a Black Friday discount. not announced Black Friday is November 27, 2026, eight days after launch, and the list price is the same $79.99 or $99.99 whether you pre-order now or buy later. Retailers set their own prices on boxed copies, so a Black Friday deal on the box is possible, but no one can say which store will run one or how big it will be. Amazon's Pre-order Price Guarantee will not help here. Amazon's terms say "the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date," and Amazon lists November 12 as that date for the box (read September 28, 2026). What else to know before buying the box there, including that its PS5 code works only on US and Canadian PlayStation accounts, is on GTA 6 on Amazon. Waiting has a cost: the Vintage Vice City Pack only comes with purchases made before November 20, 2026, so a Black Friday purchase would not include it. official The one GTA precedent is a console deal, not a game discount: Sony announced a GTA V PS4 bundle for Black Friday on November 14, 2014, at $399.99. Why $80 and not $70 or $100

Through 2025, analysts and forum threads argued that Rockstar would use GTA 6 to push the base price of games to $100. It did not. $99.99 is reserved for the edition with extras, and $79.99 matches what Nintendo charged for Mario Kart World in 2025.

Rockstar has not explained the price. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has argued that game prices have not kept pace with inflation. On the August 7, 2026 earnings call he called GTA 6 "an incredible bargain as experiences go" and described pre-orders as "unprecedented and astonishing," without giving a number. For scale, GTA V launched at $59.99 in 2013, so GTA 6's base price is 33 percent higher thirteen years later.

What the price does not include

• Online. GTA 6 launches single-player only, and no online mode, date or price has been announced. See GTA 6 Online.
• GTA+ after the free month. Digital pre-orders on both PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store include one month of GTA+ for the existing GTA Online; boxed copies do not. • The soundtrack. "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album" is a separate release on streaming, CD ($19.98) and vinyl ($49.98) in the US. See GTA 6 music.
• A controller. Sony's Limited Edition GTA VI DualSense is $84.99 and sold separately. See the GTA 6 controller.
• The Collector's Box. It is not a pricier edition of the game. Rockstar's $399.99 collector's box, The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, holds a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley sunglasses, a Leonida map poster and eight more items, but no game. Amazon's Pre-order Price Guarantee: "the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date." Amazon's help page adds that it "does not apply to lower prices offered through any program that requires a customer to join the program to receive the lower price." Amazon's release date for the GTA VI boxes is November 12.
