Who is Jason Duval
Jason Duval is the second playable lead in Grand Theft Auto VI, a Leonida Keys local with a criminal upbringing, a short Army career behind him and a job moving product for smugglers. When Lucia Caminos walks out of prison and into his car, his easy life stops being easy.
He was in Trailer 1 in December 2023 but went unnamed until Rockstar published his bio with Trailer 2 in May 2025. Rob Nelson told Famitsu the Leonida Keys is the starting area, which is Jason’s corner of the map. reported
Official background
Rockstar’s bio says Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, joined the Army to shake off a troubled adolescence, then landed in the Keys doing what he knows best: working for local drug runners. Lucia could be the best or the worst thing that ever happened to him, and he cannot tell yet which. official
Brian Heder’s bio fills in the rest. Brian lets Jason live rent-free in one of his properties as long as he helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori’s sangria now and then. official
Appearance and personality
- Look: short hair, stubble, a backward or worn trucker cap, tank tops (one reads “Leonida”), arm tattoos.
- Style: Keys casual most of the time; a pastel linen suit in the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Temperament: understated and dry. His second official tagline, “Another day in paradise, right?”, sums up the shrug.
- Under pressure: fast and physical. In the Extended Look he fights floor by floor through the Megamundo building to reach a hostage.
Where he appears
Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023). Walking the aisles of Uncle Jack’s Liquor with Lucia, then robbing it. A room at the Starlet Motel.
Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025). Patching the roof of his Keys stilt house as Brian pulls up. Driving his turquoise Ganado. At the penitentiary’s visitors’ window, then meeting Lucia at the gate. With Dre’Quan Priest, per community wikis. Riding a chopper (fans call it an Avarus), and a Seashark jet ski with Lucia on the back.
An Extended Look (August 27, 2026). official
- Asks the dealers outside the Venture Apartments, “Y’all know Boobie?”, then goes up to collect Boobie Ike’s package from Raymond just as the police raid hits.
- Meets Brian and Lori at Effluvia, where the client wants only one of them; Brian tells him on the balcony that “you gotta know when to get off.”
- Fires on police from the getaway car with a carbine Raul Bautista hands him; Rob Nelson told Famitsu that you start as Jason, shooting while Lucia drives, and that once control switches to Lucia, Jason and Raul shoot from the back seat. reported
- Drives Andrés de León from the airport to the Megamundo opening, then uses a walkie-talkie and C4 to buy Lucia an escape and frees Andrés, on the 26th floor per community wikis.
- Greets Dre’Quan outside the Jack of Hearts.
- Goes out on the water with Lucia and Brian in a scene Engadget reads as a nod to Red Dead Redemption 2’s fishing. reported
Official screenshots. On a sport bike with a pistol, fishing with Cal, playing pool with Cal at a Keys bar, on a neon-lit beachfront street with his phone, on a rooftop with a rifle, boarding a Brian’s Marina plane, about to be busted, and mid-robbery with Lucia in a store lined with glass display cases.
Relationships
Lucia Caminos. Partner in crime, and in love if the player chooses. Previews say the romance is optional but the partnership is not. reported
Brian Heder. Landlord, employer and the nearest thing he has to a mentor.
Cal Hampton. Friend, drinking buddy and fellow Brian associate, who would rather stay home while Jason has bigger plans.
Andrés de León and Valentina. The Megamundo job: Valentina hires the pair as security and Andrés makes Jason his driver.
Notable lines
- “If anything happens, I’m right behind you.” Rockstar’s official site.
- “Another day in paradise, right?” Official tagline.
- “You got a point?” To Brian at Effluvia, Extended Look.
Who plays Jason
No cast is announced. The name that circulates most is Dylan Rourke, based on a YouTuber’s insider claim and voice comparisons. rumor Against it: a weak physical match and a rival rumor naming Gregory Connors from a casting-site listing that was later removed. Troy Baker, an early guess, has said it is not him. After the Extended Look, some viewers called the delivery flat; others heard a deliberate, low-key Miami Vice register. Every casting claim is tracked on the characters hub.
Still unknown
- Whether his Army past gives him any gameplay edge. The only official difference from Lucia so far is his sidearm, the Girardi ES9.
- What his “troubled teens” involved, and whether any family appears.
- How his arrangement with Brian ends.
- Whether the opening hours follow him. The Keys starting area points that way, but Rockstar has not said.
For how control moves between the two leads, read the character switching explainer or the how-to-switch guide. His home turf is covered in the Leonida Keys guide, and his pickup has its own Vapid Ganado page.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Jason in GTA 6?
Jason Duval is one of GTA 6's two playable protagonists. He grew up around grifters, did a stint in the Army, and ended up in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners. He lives rent-free in a property owned by smuggler Brian Heder, and meeting Lucia Caminos pulls him into the main story.
Who voices Jason in GTA 6?
Nobody is announced. The most repeated name is Dylan Rourke, from a YouTuber's insider claim and voice comparisons, but it is a rumor. A rival rumor names Gregory Connors, and Troy Baker has said it is not him.
Was Jason a Ranger or special forces?
Nothing official says so. Rockstar's bio says only that he did a stint in the Army to shake off his troubled teens. Ranger and special-forces claims are fan embellishment.
Where does Jason live in GTA 6?
In the Leonida Keys, in a property owned by Brian Heder. Brian's official bio says Jason lives there rent-free as long as he helps with local shakedowns. Community wikis place the stilt house in Key Lento, but that name comes from leaked map material; Rockstar has not named the key.
Can Jason gain weight or muscle in GTA 6?
Yes, according to Dazed's deep dive with Rockstar staff: exercise builds visible muscle, food affects weight, and lack of sleep changes how the characters look. It applies to both Jason and Lucia.
What changed on this page
- Stopped saying Jason rides shotgun in Raul's getaway: Rob Nelson told Famitsu that Jason and Raul shoot from the back seat once control passes to Lucia.
- Added Jason's official taglines, signature pistol and look, corrected his Trailer 2 and Extended Look scenes, and removed the Phil Cassidy clerk claim, which was a TV ad, not a Jason scene. Also stopped calling the store in the robbery screenshot a jewelry store, which no source confirms, and noted that the Key Lento name comes from leaked map material. Fishing with Cal is now credited to Rockstar's screenshot only; in the Extended Look, Engadget puts Jason on the water with Lucia and Brian Heder. Removed an unsourced 'Jay Dog' nickname and a Trailer 2 smoke-shop robbery that our Trailer 2 breakdown does not show, and credited the 26th floor to community wikis.
