Trailer 1: one song

ArtistSongYearWhereStatus
Tom Petty"Love Is a Long Road"1989The only song in the 1:31 trailer, from the album Full Moon Fever. Rockstar credits it in the YouTube descriptionofficial

Trailer 1 arrived on December 4, 2023, about 15 hours early after a leak. The scene-by-scene breakdown is on GTA 6 Trailer 1.

Trailer 2: five songs

ArtistSongYearWhereStatus
The Pointer Sisters"Hot Together"1986The main track, and the only song credited in Rockstar's YouTube descriptionofficial
Jay Ferguson"Thunder Island"1977reported
Zenglen"Child Support"2004reported
Wang Chung"Everybody Have Fun Tonight"1986reported
Tammy Wynette"Talkin' to Myself Again"1987reported

Most people only remember "Hot Together," and it is the only song Rockstar credits in the trailer's YouTube description. The four shorter cues come from Consequence's running list, which names them without scene notes, and no outlet we trust has timed them yet. We will add times once we have checked them against Rockstar's upload. The full scene table is on GTA 6 Trailer 2.

The Extended Look: 14 songs

"An Extended Look" (26:48, August 27, 2026) plays licensed music for much of its running time, some of it from a car radio or a stereo inside the game world. Game Rant timed all 14; Consequence lists the same 14; Vice's list has 13 and leaves out "Inner Light." Times are approximate.

The status is "reported" because press identified the songs from the footage. Rockstar has not published a track list for the video. The four jobs these scenes belong to are explained on the Extended Look breakdown.

These are original songs, not licensed hits. Rockstar released them on September 17, 2026, the day it announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 tracks with Atlantic Records out November 19. None of them has been heard in a trailer yet.

What the song choices tell us

  • Old and new side by side. The trailers lean on 1970s and 1980s pop and rock. The Extended Look mixes those with rap, Latin and dance tracks from 2007 on, which fits a Vice City set in the present day.
  • 1986 twice. "Hot Together" and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" are both from 1986, the year the 2002 GTA: Vice City is set. Whether that is deliberate is our guess; Rockstar has not said.
  • Sources in the world. Game Rant places "People Are People" on a car radio and "Pound Town" on a stereo, so at least some of this music lives inside the world rather than over the top as score. That points to licensed radio returning, but Rockstar has named no stations and said only that "the next evolution of in-game radio" is still to come. What is known is on GTA 6 radio stations.
  • A small sample. GTA V licensed 241 tracks across 15 music stations, plus two talk stations. Twenty songs is a sliver of what a full GTA soundtrack holds.

Songs from leaks are not here. Press lists of songs heard in leaked footage are rumors, and we do not link to that material. Station names from those reports are labeled on the radio page, and the leak history is on GTA 6 leaks.

Frequently asked questions

What song is in GTA 6 Trailer 1?

Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road," from his 1989 album Full Moon Fever. It is the only song in Trailer 1, which Rockstar released on December 4, 2023.

What is the song in GTA 6 Trailer 2?

The main song is "Hot Together" by the Pointer Sisters, from 1986. It is the only song Rockstar credits in the video description. Press identified four more in Trailer 2: Jay Ferguson's "Thunder Island," Zenglen's "Child Support," Wang Chung's "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" and Tammy Wynette's "Talkin' to Myself Again."

What songs are in the GTA 6 Extended Look?

Fourteen licensed songs, from Birdman and Lil Wayne's "Pop Bottles" at the start to Elderbrook and Bob Moses' "Inner Light" over the ending. Depeche Mode, Def Leppard, Phil Collins, Cliff Richard and Kodak Black are all in there. Game Rant timed all 14; Consequence lists the same 14; Vice's list has 13 and leaves out "Inner Light."

Are the trailer songs on GTA 6: The Album?

No. The trailer and Extended Look songs are existing licensed tracks. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is 34 original songs made for the game, out November 19, 2026 through Atlantic Records.

Will these songs be on the radio in GTA 6?

Rockstar has not said. It has announced no radio stations and has not said which station, if any, plays any of these songs. Some Extended Look songs clearly play from a car radio or a stereo inside the game world, which suggests licensed radio is back, but that is our reading.

What changed on this page
