GTA 6 on Amazon: what Amazon sells, when it arrives and what is in the box

What Amazon sells

Amazon.com has two GTA 6 listings, one for PS5 and one for Xbox Series X|S. Both are the Standard Edition, and both carry the same title note: "Code in Box, Delivers 11/12/26, Playable 11/19/26". When we checked on September 28 they were sold and shipped by Amazon.com, not a marketplace seller. Both listings say "no disc is included".

Amazon also sells the official extras: Sony's white Limited Edition GTA VI DualSense (out November 19; the black one is a PlayStation Direct exclusive in the US), and GTA VI: The Album on CD, vinyl and an Amazon Exclusive vinyl, which Amazon lists for November 20. The digital album is on Amazon Music, which says it goes live at 9:00 PM Pacific on November 18, midnight Eastern on November 19. The singles already released stream there now.

Why the Ultimate Edition is not on Amazon

Rockstar Support says: "A physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available." official Amazon sells the boxed game, so it only has the Standard Edition, and an Amazon US search on September 28 showed no Ultimate listing. Any listing that claims to be a boxed Ultimate Edition cannot be one, because none exists (our reading).

You still have two ways to end up with Ultimate:

• Buy it digitally on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store for $99.99. Digital pre-orders also get the free GTA+ month.
• Buy the box and upgrade. Redeem the code, then buy the $20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade on your console store. At list prices, $79.99 plus $20 equals the $99.99 Ultimate price. A $25 store gift card covers the upgrade plus any sales tax; the cards Amazon.com sells are US cards for US accounts. Steps: how to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition.

What is in the box

Rockstar Support lists the physical pre-order as the game code plus the Vintage Vice City Pack, and Amazon's listing says to "Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack." official Take-Two's rule is that all pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026 include it, so a box bought on launch day still qualifies. The pack is a '55 Vapid Stanier, the Shore Court Garage, 1980s outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon pattern; see the GTA 6 pre-order bonus. The free month of GTA+ comes only with digital pre-orders on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, not with any boxed copy.

When it arrives: from November 12

Amazon's listing says: "Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19." Take-Two also said boxed copies are available from November 12 to support pre-loading. official So no store should get a box to you before then (our reading).

Amazon delivers from November 12, but not every order lands that day. When we checked, Prime members were offered free release-day delivery on Thursday, November 12, while standard delivery could arrive later. Amazon's Release-Date Delivery help pages add the fine print:

• It is for eligible pre-orders going to ZIP codes in the continental US.
• For Prime members it is free when you select Two-Day Shipping.
• It does not go to Amazon Hub Lockers, Alaska, Hawaii, international addresses, P.O. boxes or APO/FPO addresses.
• If "Get it on its release day" does not show at checkout, your order is not eligible.

Why it matters: pre-load opens November 12 at local midnight, and you cannot start it until you redeem the code. A box that arrives a few days later still leaves time to pre-load before the November 19 unlock; one that arrives after launch means downloading the whole game first. A digital pre-order starts the download without waiting for a box. Set it up with how to pre-load GTA 6.

If you want the box on November 12, Prime members get Amazon's Release-Date Delivery free on eligible pre-orders when they choose Two-Day Shipping. New members can start a 30-day free trial; a trial started before mid-October runs out before November 12, so start it later or keep the membership. Amazon's Pre-order Price Guarantee

Both GTA 6 listings showed "Pre-order Price Guarantee" on September 28. In Amazon's words, "the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date." The details from Amazon's help page:

• It applies only to items sold by Amazon.com that display the message, not to other sellers.
• It does not apply to lower prices that require joining a program to get them.
• If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered before the end of the release date, Amazon says it will "automatically refund your credit or debit card for the difference" within 48 hours. If you paid another way, Amazon says to contact it.

Amazon lists the box's release date as November 12, so the window ends at the end of November 12, a week before launch and 15 days before Black Friday (our reading). How that fits with Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday is on GTA 6 deals.

The PS5 code is for US and Canadian accounts

Amazon's PS5 listing says the code "can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada". Rockstar Support says PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the region they were sold for, while Xbox codes are not region-locked. official If your PlayStation account is in the UK, Europe, Australia or anywhere else, buy from a store in your own country; local prices are on GTA 6 price by country.

Cancelling an Amazon pre-order

Amazon's help pages say you can cancel an item sold and shipped by Amazon until it enters the shipping process. Open Your Orders, find Grand Theft Auto VI, select View or edit order, then Cancel items, tick the game and select Request cancellation. Amazon's price terms describe charging "when we ship it to you" and note that an order can enter the shipping process before the release date, so if you change your mind, cancel well before November 12. Once it has shipped, Amazon says to return the package through its Online Returns Center. Once you redeem the code it is tied to your account, so do not redeem a box you plan to return. Every store's rules are in how to cancel or refund a GTA 6 pre-order.

Redeeming the code

1. PS5: open the PlayStation Store, press the triangle button, choose More (the three dots), then Redeem Code, and enter the 12-character code.
2. Xbox Series X|S: open the Store, press the View button, choose Redeem and enter the 25-character code.
3. Redeem it on the account you will play on. The game then pre-loads from November 12 and unlocks November 19.

What to check before you type, and what to do if the code fails, are in how to redeem a GTA 6 code.
