Is GTA 6 itself on sale?

No. GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, and Rockstar, Sony and Microsoft have announced no discount. official Retailers set their own price on the boxed Standard Edition, which is a download code with no disc, so if any pre-launch discount appears, it is most likely to be on the box (our reading). The full price picture, including the $20 Ultimate upgrade, is on GTA 6 price.

Amazon's Pre-order Price Guarantee

If you pre-order the box on Amazon, one protection already applies. Amazon's terms say that for a pre-order showing the guarantee, "the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date." Both GTA 6 listings showed it when we read them on September 28. Three limits matter:

• It ends November 12. Amazon lists the box's release date as November 12, the day it starts arriving for pre-load, so the window closes at the end of that day (our reading). It does not reach Black Friday.
• Amazon.com only. It covers items sold by Amazon.com, not other sellers on the site.
• No member-only prices. Amazon excludes lower prices that require joining a program. Prime is a program you join, so a Prime-only event price may not be covered (our reading).

Prime Big Deal Days: October 6-7

Amazon's site banner reads "Prime Big Deal Days is October 6-7". Amazon's September 15 announcement says the 48 hours of deals start at 12:01 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, October 6, that you need a Prime membership to shop all of them, and that dates may vary by country.

Amazon's help pages also say Release-Date Delivery on eligible pre-orders is free for Prime members who choose Two-Day Shipping. These are the categories GTA 6 buyers look at, and what to check in each.

Consoles

Know the official price before you judge a sale. Sony's and Microsoft's US list prices on September 28: PS5 Digital Edition $599.00, PS5 1 TB with disc drive $649.00, Xbox Series S 512 GB $499.99, Series S 1 TB $599.99 and Series X Digital Edition $749.99. official Amazon sets its own prices, which can differ. The boxed GTA 6 is a download code, so a console without a disc drive plays it. Our best console for GTA 6 page compares them.

We do not link the PS5 Pro. On September 28 Amazon.com itself had no offer for it, only a third-party seller. A Sony memo to distributors says the PS5 Pro shortage runs "through early 2027 at the earliest", according to Playfront as reported by PlayStation LifeStyle. reported Sony lists it at $899.00, and PlayStation Direct showed it as currently unavailable on September 28.

Storage

This is the purchase that matters most while the install size is unannounced; estimates of 150 to 200 GB are rumor. rumor A PS5 takes an M.2 NVMe SSD in its expansion slot, and Sony recommends drives rated 5,500 MB/s or faster. Xbox Series X|S takes a storage expansion card; a USB drive can hold Series games but cannot run them. Controllers and headsets

Sony's Limited Edition GTA VI DualSense lists at $84.99 and releases with the game on November 19. official There is no GTA 6 Xbox controller; see the GTA 6 controller. For headsets, buy the version made for your console: many wireless models come in separate PlayStation and Xbox versions. GTA 6's audio features are not announced. TVs

GTA 6's frame rate and resolution are not announced; a YouTuber who visited Rockstar North reported that the consoles ran it at 30 fps during development (see GTA 6 fps). reported Buy for what PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can output: 4K, HDR and HDMI 2.1. What to check is on best TV for GTA 6.

Black Friday: November 27

Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026, eight days after launch, and Cyber Monday on November 30. No store has announced a GTA 6 price for either. not announced Weigh three dates before you wait:

• November 12: pre-load opens, and Amazon's Price Guarantee window for the box closes at the end of the day (our reading).
• November 19: launch, and the last day a purchase includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, which needs a purchase before November 20. official
• November 27: any Black Friday price on the box comes without the pack.

Console bundles have happened before: Sony sold a GTA V PS4 bundle for Black Friday in 2014. No GTA 6 bundle has been announced; see GTA 6 bundles. This page moves on to Black Friday once Prime Big Deal Days ends on October 7.

Other ways to pay less

• Students and teachers. In August Target offered 20% off Standard Edition pre-orders through Target Circle, as IGN and LevelUp reported, and IGN said it covered pre-orders placed before September 12. reported Target showed no student offer when we checked on September 28. • Points. Engadget reported on September 26 that some Xbox players covered their pre-orders with Microsoft Rewards or Xbox Mastercard points. reported
• Standard now, Ultimate later. Standard plus the $20 upgrade costs the same as Ultimate, so buying Ultimate up front saves nothing. official

For the soundtrack: on September 28 Amazon listed Music Unlimited free for 4 months for new subscribers with Prime (3 months without), as a limited-time Prime Big Deal Days offer that renews at Amazon's monthly price. The released GTA VI singles already stream there, and Amazon Music lists the full album for 9:00 PM Pacific on November 18. What to avoid

• Cheap keys. GTA 6 codes below $79.99 on key-reseller sites can be region-locked or revoked. PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the region they were sold for.
• "GTA 6 for PC". There is no PC version. A GTA-style Steam game called Phantom Vice Auto, by Brgames Interactive, lists November 19 as its early-access date; it is not GTA 6 and has nothing to do with Rockstar. reported
• Resellers above list price. Hardware in short supply, such as the PS5 Pro, draws third-party sellers asking more than Sony's price. The same goes for the Collector's Box: Rockstar sells it on its own store, and in Australia EB Games sold it at A$699.95, with its listing reading "Presold Out" on September 28.
