The Vapid Ganado is Jason Duval’s personal truck: a well-worn, low-riding Vapid pickup in the coupe-utility style of the early 1970s. Rockstar gave it a name in June 2026 in its Ultimate Edition copy, which sells a Retro Build modkit for it.

Jason’s truck in the trailers

Jason drives a turquoise pickup with a mismatched fender all through Trailer 2. PC Gamer says Jason’s two-door from the early trailers is now confirmed as the Ganado. The GTA Wiki also identifies the grey car Jason and Lucia sit on in the Trailer 1 key art, pictured at the top of this page, as a Ganado. That one is fan identification.

Rockstar’s Ultimate Edition images show the Ganado parked at Jason’s safehouse, the Keys stilt house that Brian Heder lets him live in rent-free, next to the Dinka Enduro and an orange Crest Kayak.

Ganado Retro Build (Ultimate Edition)

Rockstar’s copy offers exclusive mods that add muscle and classic styling to Jason’s truck. The images show it in yellow with a red racing stripe, parked outside Jason’s safehouse. TheSixthAxis’s version of the copy lists the mods as a cab spoiler, rear aerials and a special livery (reported).

Like every Ultimate item, the kit arrives as the story goes on, with new items behind each chapter. Rockstar has not said whether it changes performance or only looks. The upgrade guide explains how to add it to a Standard copy, and the Ultimate Edition items checklist lists everything else.

New to the series

There is no Ganado in any earlier GTA game, according to the GTA Wiki and GTABase. It is one of three Vapid models named in Rockstar’s edition copy, with the ‘55 Stanier and the ‘67 Dominator Buggy.

Real-world basis

Rockstar does not name real cars, so these are press and fan identifications:

  • PC Gamer: the 1970 Ford Ranchero.
  • GTA Wiki: a fifth-generation Ranchero GT, with a side profile from the 1969–1970 Mercury Cougar.

The name fits too. Ganado is Spanish for livestock, a wink at a truck called the Ranchero. That is our reading; Rockstar has not explained the name.

What is not known yet

  • Whether Jason keeps the Ganado all game. Rob Nelson has said hideouts change as the chapters go on (reported), so its home may move.
  • Whether Lucia can drive it, or store it elsewhere.
  • Whether the Retro Build is cosmetic only.
  • Whether other Ganados appear in traffic.

More of Jason’s world is on his character page; every named car is on the GTA 6 vehicles list.

Frequently asked questions

What car does Jason drive in GTA 6?

A Vapid Ganado. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition copy calls it Jason's well-worn, low-riding Vapid Ganado pickup. PC Gamer and fan wikis match it to the turquoise truck he drives in Trailer 2.

Do I need the Ultimate Edition to get the Ganado?

The Ultimate item is the Retro Build, a set of exclusive mods for Jason's existing truck. Rockstar's wording suggests the Ganado itself is Jason's car in every edition, but it has not spelled that out.

What is the Ganado Retro Build?

An Ultimate Edition modkit that adds muscle and classic styling to the Ganado. Rockstar's images show it in yellow with a red racing stripe, parked at Jason's safehouse. It comes with the $99.99 Ultimate Edition or the $20 upgrade.

What real car is the Vapid Ganado?

Rockstar does not name real cars. PC Gamer says it is based on the 1970 Ford Ranchero, and the GTA Wiki adds that its side profile borrows from the 1969–1970 Mercury Cougar.
