How we sort these. Everything here is visible in Rockstar's trailers, the Extended Look, official screenshots, artwork or edition copy. official means Rockstar shows or states it. reported means a named outlet or recap site spotted it in official footage and we credit them; we have not checked every frame ourselves. rumor is fan theory. Nothing here comes from leaked footage.
Callbacks to the 2002 Vice City and the 3D era
GTA 6 is a new, modern-day Vice City, not a remake of the 1986 city. Rockstar still threads the old game through its marketing, mostly in edition copy and place names. The history of both cities is on Vice City, 2002 to 2026.
| Easter egg | Where it appears | The reference | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ocean View Hotel | Rockstar's Vintage Vice City Pack art, whose caption names the hotel with Jason, Lucia and the '55 Stanier outside it | Tommy Vercetti's first safehouse in GTA: Vice City (2002) | official |
| Ocean Beach and Washington Beach | Rockstar's Vice City description, and Ultimate Edition copy that docks the Squalo boat at Washington Beach | Both were districts of the 2002 map | official |
| Little Cuba | Rockstar's Vice City description | The 2002 game's Cuban district, then called Little Havana | official |
| Tropical weapon pattern | Vintage Vice City Pack, the pre-order bonus | The pack's store listing says it is inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm-tree button-up shirt | official |
| Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers | Ultimate Edition | Rockstar's copy gives them "classic Vice City stylings sourced from the Vercetti Estate," Tommy's mansion in the 2002 game | official |
| 1980s outfits and the '55 Stanier | Vintage Vice City Pack; Rockstar pictures the car outside the Ocean View Hotel | The pack's own tagline: "flash back to when the neon burned brightest" | official |
| Grotti Cheetah '95 | Ultimate Edition, where Rockstar calls it an "ode to Shore Drive"; VGC also spotted a Cheetah in Trailer 1 | In GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas the Cheetah looked like a Ferrari Testarossa, and VGC says the new one goes back to that look. A white Testarossa in Vice City also recalls Miami Vice; that part is our reading | official |
| Phil's Ammu-Nation | A TV commercial in Trailer 2 (about 2:10) | Ammu-Nation is the series gun store. The man in the ad calls it "Phil's Ammu-Nation"; fans read the name as a nod to Phil Cassidy (see the rumor section) | official |
| Big Smoke Cigar Co | A shop sign passed during a car chase in the Extended Look, spotted by recap site Postmode | Big Smoke from San Andreas (2004). The link is a reading; Rockstar has not explained it | reported |
The full pre-order and Ultimate Edition item lists are on the pre-order bonus page and GTA 6 editions.
Callbacks to GTA IV, GTA V and GTA Online
GTA IV, GTA V and GTA Online share one continuity, which fans call the HD universe. Rockstar has not placed GTA 6 in it in so many words, but the evidence keeps stacking up.
| Easter egg | Where it appears | The reference | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liberty City | Lucia's official bio, which mentions her family's Liberty City days | The New York stand-in of GTA IV (and GTA III before it) | official |
| Lifeinvader | Extended Look: an optional livestream feed, switched on with R3 while Lucia flees the police with the streamer Camilo in her trunk; Engadget reads it as Lifeinvader | GTA V's Facebook parody, and a strong sign GTA 6 shares GTA IV and V's universe | reported |
| Weazel News | Trailer 1 TV bulletins (about 1:04) | The patriotic TV news channel from earlier games (VGC) | reported |
| Pisswasser, Logger and Patriot beers | Trailer 1, plus an alcohol-free Pißwasser Nein | Beer brands from GTA IV and GTA V (VGC) | reported |
| Sessanta Nove and Go Postal | Trailer 1 | GTA V's luxury label and postal service; Go Postal now carries the tagline "Collect Yourself" (VGC) | reported |
| Bugstars | Extended Look: Bugstars rat poison in Raymond's drug lab, spotted by Postmode | GTA V's pest-control company | reported |
| Fleeca and Lombank | Extended Look: fridge magnets in Jason and Lucia's apartment, spotted by Postmode | Banks from GTA V and GTA Online | reported |
| Valentina | Extended Look: the Megamundo security job | Shares a name and look with the Valentina from GTA Online's 2025 Money Fronts update. Fans and outlets identify her as the same character; Rockstar has not said so | reported |
| Slow-motion aiming | Extended Look gunfights | Engadget reads it as a callback to Michael De Santa's special ability in GTA V | reported |

Leonida jokes and Florida satire
Trailer 1 is mostly a love letter to Florida's internet reputation. VGC went through it frame by frame the day after release, and most of what follows is from that list.
| Easter egg | Where it appears | The reference | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| The name Leonida | Everywhere; first seen on the corrections office in Trailer 1 | VGC reads it as a nod to Juan Ponce de León, who led the first European expedition to Florida in 1513 | reported |
| "Only in Leonida" | The name of Rockstar's official character and place hub; VGC also caught the line in Trailer 1 | The "only in Florida" meme | official |
| The Florida Man feed | Trailer 1's social feed, about 0:42 to 0:55: a gator hauled out of a pool, a dancer on a car roof, a woman guarding her street in a nightgown | The "Florida Man" viral-video genre | official |
| The neck-tattoo news story | Trailer 1: a Spanish-language bulletin under a "Mega" logo about a neck tattoo that helped convict a Leonida man | VGC's reading: the real-life "Florida Joker" | reported |
| "We will no longer accept cash stored in underwear." | A sign on the door of Uncle Jack's Liquor, Trailer 1 (about 1:09) | Store-policy humor (VGC) | reported |
| "The United States of Paranoia" | Printed on banknotes in Trailer 1's cash shot | In place of "The United States of America" (VGC) | reported |
| Angstipan | The "It cures emotions!" billboard over Jason and Lucia's pickup, Trailer 1 (about 1:01) | Pharma-ad satire (VGC named the brand) | reported |
| POACH | Trailer 1 social montage | "Protection of Animals and Controlled Hunting," a hunting-lobby joke (VGC) | reported |
| Pindayho and Logger Light Dreich | Beer at Uncle Jack's Liquor, Trailer 1 | Pindayho plays on "pendejo," a Spanish insult. "Dreich" is Scots for dull and gloomy (VGC); a fitting word from a game led by Rockstar North in Edinburgh, which is our aside | reported |
| NINE1NINE | A banner towed by a plane over the beach in Trailer 1: "why sixty-nine when you can Nine 1 Nine" (VGC) | Fans read it as Miami's E11EVEN nightclub | reported |
| Dolls of Destruction | A band T-shirt in Trailer 1 | A fictional band, spotted by VGC | reported |
| "We Saved Makenzi From The Ocean" | A marine-park ad in the Extended Look, spotted by Postmode | SeaWorld satire | reported |
| Gloriana plates | License plates in official footage and screenshots | A neighboring state; fans read it as the game's Georgia | reported |
Timestamps come from our Trailer 1 breakdown. The real Miami spots behind Vice City's landmarks are matched on GTA 6 real-life locations.
The cover art
- The panel grid. Every mainline cover since GTA III in 2001 has used comic-style panels around the logo, and GTA 6 keeps the format. official
- Leonida wildlife. An alligator gets its own panel, and a flamingo flies past a speedboat. Both animals are in Trailer 1. official
- A helicopter on floats. The bubble-canopy chopper on pontoons over the skyline looks a lot like the Sea Sparrow from the 2002 Vice City. That is our reading; Rockstar has not named it.
- The bank job. A man with a rifle stands in front of a "National Bank" sign. He looks like Raul Bautista, whose official bio makes him a bank robber, but that match is ours.
- A wheelie past the police. A rider pulls a wheelie with a police cruiser behind him, echoing the dirt-bike stunts in Trailer 1's social feed.
Payoffs and inside jokes
- The "Mega" logo. Trailer 1's Spanish-language news runs under a "Mega" logo. Recap sites identify it as Mega Noticias, the news arm of Megamundo, the media company at the center of the Extended Look's last job. reported
- A leaked scene, finished. The Hank's Waffles robbery in the Extended Look is the same scene first seen in the 2022 leak. GamesRadar and Kotaku compared the two. We do not link the leak; the leaks page has the history. reported
- 1986 on the soundtrack. Trailer 2's "Hot Together" and Wang Chung's "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" are both from 1986, the year the 2002 game is set. Our reading, not Rockstar's.
- Phil Collins, again. Phil Collins played himself in 2006's Vice City Stories. His "Against All Odds" plays in the Extended Look at about 21:33. Nod or coincidence, Rockstar has not said. Every song is listed on GTA 6 songs.
Fan theories
Everything in this list is fan reading or speculation, not something Rockstar has shown or said. rumor
- Phil's Ammu-Nation means Phil Cassidy. Fans read the store name as a nod to the one-armed arms dealer from the 3D-era games; ComicBook.com floated a son or relative. The man in the ad has both arms, Rockstar has not named him, and the 3D era is a different continuity, so a nod is the most it can be.
- The '55 Stanier photo recreates Ocean Drive. Fans read the car parked outside the Ocean View Hotel as a copy of the vintage car often parked outside Miami Beach's Avalon Hotel.
- One-Eyed Willie's is a Goonies nod. Fans read the name of the Ultimate Edition's Lake Leonida mod shop as a nod to One-Eyed Willy, the pirate whose treasure drives The Goonies (1985). No character called Willie has appeared anywhere. More on One-Eyed Willie's.
- Starfish Island and the Malibu Club return. Neither has been shown or named. The Vercetti Estate is named in edition copy, but whether you can visit it is unknown.
- The man on the seaplane is Lucia's father. Postmode floats this about the bloodied man on a seaplane wing near the end of the Extended Look. Lucia's official tagline says her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and that is the whole basis.
- The manatee is Leonida's mascot. Postmode says manatees appear on clothing and in the water. No major outlet has repeated it. Rockstar's Collector's Box does include a cartoon Chunkee the Manatee shot glass official, but live manatees are still a fan spot.
- Gloriana is coming later. Some fans read the Gloriana plates as a hint at another state for future content. Nothing suggests it is playable.
What we leave out
Some "easter eggs" that circulate online come only from the 2022 and 2026 leaks of development footage. We do not list those or link to that material; the GTA 6 rumor tracker covers the ones that were never real. Fan wikis also present identifications as fact; here they are labeled as readings or rumors.
What to do next: hunt for more yourself in every GTA 6 trailer, starting with the Extended Look. The real easter-egg hunt starts on November 19, 2026; pre-loading opens November 12, and how to pre-load GTA 6 covers it.

Frequently asked questions
Are there Vice City easter eggs in GTA 6?
Yes, and several are official. The Ocean View Hotel, Tommy Vercetti's first safehouse in the 2002 game, is back on the beachfront. Ocean Beach and Washington Beach return as district names. The pre-order pack's weapon pattern is inspired by Tommy's palm-tree shirt, and Rockstar says the Ultimate Edition revolvers have "classic Vice City stylings sourced from the Vercetti Estate."
Is Tommy Vercetti in GTA 6?
There is no sign of him as a character. Rockstar's edition copy references him twice, through the weapon pattern and the Vercetti Estate, but GTA 6 appears to sit in the later continuity of GTA IV and V rather than the 2002 game's, and he has not appeared in any trailer. See GTA 6 returning characters for Trevor, CJ, Niko and the rest.
Is GTA 6 in the same universe as GTA 5?
Everything shown points that way. Lucia's official bio mentions her family's Liberty City days, the Extended Look has a livestream feed that Engadget reads as a nod to Lifeinvader, and GTA V brands such as Weazel News, Pisswasser and Sessanta Nove are back. Rockstar has not spelled it out, so treat the shared universe as very likely rather than stated.
Is Phil Cassidy in GTA 6?
Not confirmed. Trailer 2 has a TV ad for Phil's Ammu-Nation, and fans read the store name as a nod to Phil Cassidy from the 3D-era games. The man in the ad has both arms and Rockstar has not said who he is or linked him to Phil Cassidy.
What is the Big Smoke easter egg in GTA 6?
Recap site Postmode spotted a Big Smoke Cigar Co shop sign during a car chase in the Extended Look. Big Smoke is the San Andreas character, so fans read it as a nod. Rockstar has not commented.
What changed on this page
- Noted the official Chunkee the Manatee shot glass in Rockstar's Collector's Box and linked the new returning characters page from the Tommy Vercetti answer.
- Corrected the Lifeinvader entry: the person in Lucia's trunk is the livestreamer Camilo, not a hostage, and the Lifeinvader link is Engadget's reading.
