GTA 6's state of Leonida is Rockstar's Florida, and fans have matched every region to a real place. Vice City is Miami, the Leonida Keys are the Florida Keys, Grassrivers is the Everglades, Port Gellhorn is Panama City and the Panhandle, Ambrosia is the sugar country around Lake Okeechobee, and Mount Kalaga National Park has a canyon that looks like Georgia's Providence Canyon. The tables below list all 85 places in our wiki that have a real-world match, grouped by region.
Rockstar has not confirmed a single one of these matches. It never names Florida or Miami, although its Leonida pages come close by calling the state "the sunshine state". The matches come from fans and the press lining up trailer frames and official screenshots with real streets, led by community efforts such as the fan-run GTA VI mapping project, which TheGamer says has pieced a map together from trailer footage and screenshots since Trailer 1 in December 2023.
The Status column is about the game place, not the match. "Official" means Rockstar named or showed the place (55 of the 85), so the Sahara Arena is official even though its Kaseya Center match is fan identification. Places whose names come from leaks or fan labels are marked rumor and sit at the bottom of each table. We list them so you can recognize them on fan maps, but we do not host or link leaked footage.

How solid are the matches?
Name puns are the strongest. Vice-Dale County plays on Miami-Dade, Little Cuba replaces Little Havana, Shore Drive is Ocean Drive, and Washington Beach echoes Washington Avenue. The wordplay is hard to miss, even though Rockstar never spells out the match.
Building-level matches come from side-by-side frame comparisons. The Ocean View Hotel lines up with the Clevelander at 1020 Ocean Drive, the Venture Apartments with Haley Sofge Towers, and a waterfront condo in the Extended Look with the Bay Harbor building used for Dexter Morgan's home, which GameSpot picked up. These are convincing but still fan identification.
Loose regional matches are the weakest: Kelly County as Collier and Lee counties, or the Starlet Motel as a small North Florida motel. Rockstar blends several real places into one, so treat a single "real location" for these as a best guess. Leak-era names such as Starfish Island (Star Island) are rumor twice over: the place and the match.

Is GTA 6 set in Florida?
In all but name. The game is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida, with Vice City standing in for Miami. Rockstar never uses the word Florida, but its own Leonida pages invite you to tour "the sunshine state", Florida's nickname.
Is Vice City the same as Miami?
Vice City is Rockstar's modern-day Miami, not a street-for-street copy. Fans match Ocean Beach to South Beach, Little Cuba to Little Havana, Stockyard to Wynwood and the Sahara Arena to the Kaseya Center, but Rockstar compresses and rearranges the city. See the Vice City guide.
Has Rockstar confirmed any real-world locations?
No. Every match on this page is fan or press identification. The nearest real-world tie-in runs the other way: a "Welcome to Vice City" sign went up on Miami's Kaseya Center on September 22, 2026, which Local 10 reported as part of a Miami-Dade County marketing push. Can you visit the real GTA 6 locations?
Most of them, yes. Ocean Drive, Wynwood, the Venetian Causeway, the Overseas Highway, the Everglades and Providence Canyon State Park in Georgia are all public. Some matches are homes or residential towers, so look from the street and respect the people who live there.
What is Port Gellhorn based on?
Fans match Port Gellhorn to Panama City and the Florida Panhandle. Rockstar's blurb calls it Leonida's "forgotten coast", and Forgotten Coast is also the real nickname for the stretch of Panhandle shoreline just east of Panama City.
