Rockstar opened pre-orders on Thursday, September 24, 2026 for its first GTA 6 collector’s box, The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection. It costs $399.99 on the Rockstar Store, and the store page is blunt about what is missing: “Grand Theft Auto VI game sold separately.”
That makes it merchandise, not a new edition. The game still comes only as Standard ($79.99) or Ultimate ($99.99). Every item and the buying rules are on our GTA 6 Collector’s Box page.
What Rockstar announced
Rockstar’s Newswire post calls it an “exclusive, limited-edition Collector’s Box” inspired by “Leonida’s hit TV show, Macca the Gator.” The store listing fills in the rest:
- Price: $399.99 in the US. UK outlets report £349.99 and European outlets €399.99; Rockstar’s store showed us US pricing only.
- Contents: 11 items, led by a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure with a twist-open stash base, plus Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era 9FORTY snapback, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass and a double-sided poster.
- Limit: one per person, and you have to log in to the Rockstar Store to buy.
- Shipping: from November 19, 2026, launch day, to 23 countries: the US, Canada, the UK and 20 in Europe. Rockstar said pre-order details for Asia, Latin America and Australia would follow; New Zealand is not mentioned.
Rockstar also says more “Grand Theft Auto VI Collection” apparel and collectibles are coming to its store soon. On September 28 the US listing was still taking pre-orders.
Update, September 28: Australia got the box through a retailer. EB Games sold it from 11:00 AEST on September 28 at A$699.95, one per customer, and its listing read “Presold Out” the same day. Press Start reports a JB Hi-Fi ballot for Perks members is coming (reported). Rockstar’s post has not changed and still names no retailer; Asia and Latin America have nothing yet. Our EB Games Australia report has the details.
The map on the poster
Rockstar says the poster’s back has “a full view of the Leonida map,” which makes it the first official GTA 6 map product. Its store photo shows only a cropped corner of that side, with no readable place names. Notebookcheck reported that Rockstar’s first version of the photo showed place labels, which Rockstar then edited out. The Leonida map page covers what Rockstar has shown so far.
The reaction
Most coverage focused on the price and the missing game. IBTimes UK reported fans calling the $400 set “insane” for putting sunglasses ahead of a copy of the game.
Wccftech notes that Red Dead Redemption 2's 2018 Collector's Box cost $99.99 and also had no game, while GTA V's 2013 Collector's Edition was $149.99 with the game included (both reported).
Scalpers moved fast. Beebom found eBay listings from about $800 to $1,750 while Rockstar was still taking pre-orders at $399.99 (reported).
The datamine and the September 9 photos
About four hours before Rockstar’s post, Insider Gaming, Gameranx and others reported a datamined list of upcoming Rockstar Store products that included the Vice City Collection. Outlets counted anywhere from 22 to 57 items; beyond the box itself, treat that list as rumor.
On September 9, photos of a large black box printed with the GTA VI logo and “Vice City: Leonida” appeared online from someone claiming to work at a packaging company in Mexico. Metro now ties those photos to the real box (reported). The official box does look similar, which is our own reading, and Rockstar has not commented. The disc-slot theory was wrong: the real box holds no game. Our fake leaks tracker has the details.
What to do
To play, pre-order Standard or Ultimate; see which GTA 6 edition to buy. If you want the box, buy it from store.rockstargames.com, which was still taking pre-orders on September 28. In Australia EB Games sold it, and its listing read “Presold Out” the same day. To back out, the store FAQ says to cancel through Xsolla’s physical item form, the route how to cancel and refund a GTA 6 pre-order covers.
The game is sold separately
The Collector's Box is not sold on Amazon: Rockstar sells it on its own store, and in Australia EB Games sold it. It has no game in it. Amazon sells the boxed Standard Edition, a download code with no disc; the PS5 code works only on US and Canadian PlayStation accounts.
