Rockstar has reportedly begun sending GTA 6 review codes to media outlets, with a review embargo of November 18, 2026, the day before the game’s November 19 launch. The claim comes from leaker NateTheHate, posted October 26, 2026, and Insider Gaming says it has independently verified the date. Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed a review schedule.

What’s reported, what’s confirmed

Nothing here is official. The November 18 date and the start of code distribution are REPORTED: they trace to a named leaker whose earlier GTA 6 calls, including that the November 19 date would hold, have reportedly been accurate, and to Insider Gaming’s own verification. Multiple other outlets, including Beebom, Notebookcheck, Dot Esports and GTABoom, repeated the same date within a day of the original post. As of this report, no outlet has said on the record that it has actually received a code.

A one-day review window, with critics able to publish the day before launch, would be tight but not unusual for a major release under embargo. It is also separate from a “gone gold” announcement, which Rockstar has not made; see our gone gold tracker for how GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 compared.

Why the timing matters

If accurate, November 18 reviews would land during the same week as pre-load, which opens November 12, and the day of the game’s midnight unlocks that begin rolling out from New Zealand and Australia before reaching the US and UK. Players deciding whether to keep a pre-order or wait would have only about 24 hours of published reviews before the earliest unlocks.

Some outlets have speculated that Rockstar could skip a traditional review-code process altogether, citing the risk of early leaks that have dogged the game’s marketing since 2022. That is speculation, not something in NateTheHate’s report or Insider Gaming’s verification, so we are not stating it as likely.

What it means for players

Nothing about the November 19 release date, platforms or pre-order terms changes. If the November 18 date holds, expect a wave of GTA 6 reviews the night before launch rather than weeks in advance, which is common for heavily anticipated, leak-sensitive titles. Check the GTA 6 release date page and news timeline for confirmation once Rockstar or Take-Two comments.

Where to buy

Pre-order the boxed GTA VI

Amazon

Amazon sells the boxed Standard Edition: a download code in the box, no disc. Amazon delivers from November 12, the day pre-load opens, and standard delivery can arrive later, so check the date at checkout. The game unlocks November 19.

Amazon's Pre-order Price Guarantee: "the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date." Amazon's help page adds that it "does not apply to lower prices offered through any program that requires a customer to join the program to receive the lower price." Amazon's release date for the GTA VI boxes is November 12.

Amazon's listing offers Prime members release-day delivery on November 12. New members can start a 30-day free trial (Amazon, checked September 28); a trial started before mid-October runs out before November 12, so start it later or keep the membership. Frequently asked questions

When do GTA 6 reviews come out?

Not officially announced. Leaker NateTheHate said on October 26, 2026 that Rockstar has started sending review codes with an embargo of November 18, 2026, the day before the November 19 launch. Insider Gaming says it independently verified the date, and several other outlets have repeated it, but Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed a review schedule.

Has anyone said they received a GTA 6 review code?

Not publicly. As of this report, no outlet has stated on the record that it has received a code, only that distribution has reportedly begun.

Could Rockstar skip a traditional review embargo?

That is speculation some outlets have floated, pointing to the risk of early leaks, but it is unconfirmed. Nothing about the sourcing in this report says Rockstar is changing its approach to review codes.

Has GTA 6 gone gold?

Not announced. A review embargo report is separate from a gone-gold announcement, which Rockstar has not made for GTA 6. See GTA 6's gone-gold status for precedent from GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
